Neko Entertainment’s port of 2007 PlayStation 2 smash-hit Heracles Chariot Racing is finally available on WiiWare. For the wonderful price of 800 Nintendo Bucks, you too can experience the fun of yesteryear when practically every studio on the planet tried to create a decent Mario Kart-like title.

Before checking out the assets, I wasn’t a believer in the title. Now, my perspective has been changed irrevocably. Heracles Chariot Racing looks like a decent kart racer with the potential to be just as awesome as Neko’s Mia Hamm Soccer 64. That’s saying a lot, folks. That game rocked. Hard.
When I read a blurb about the title I was bummed, thinking it was just another crap Wii-Ware release, but it doesn't look awful. I'm not that into racing so I wont be picking it up, my Wii Points are going towards Bit-Trip Core, but I can see some people enjoying this.
Heracles? seriously? I think it's maybe cheesier than simply calling him hercules and being done with it. Maybe they couldn't do it because of the disney movie, though...
Too bad they lack any imagination whatsoever. Cool idea, just... we already have a Mario Kart, man. They should have borrowed more from Road Rash, added some destructible carts, ragdoll accidents, flaming arrows... come on!
