Weird concept, sure, but let's roll with it

This morning, during the Final Fantasy Explorers livestream, Square Enix revealed more about the game's "Trance" feature, which will allow players to transform into characters from past Final Fantasy titles.

The character they used to illustrate this new ability was Cloud from Final Fantasy VII, but it was mentioned that several other characters from past Final Fantasy entries would be in the game as well.

While the time limit of the transformation will be very short, the "Legend Character" transformation will also have background music from their specific games. They'll also have exclusive moves, such as Cloud being able to use his Omnislash Limit Break attack.

Final Fantasy Explorers is designed as a pick up and play action-RPG that involves the destruction of various bosses, in the form of summons from the franchise. Classic enemies like Ifrit have been confirmed already, but this...
Final Fantasy Explorers will arrive soon in Japan, and it'll come with a few changes that aren't typically in 3DS titles. For one, it won't feature full 3D -- I'm kind of 50/50 on it myself, so I don't mind either way. The go...
It's become exceedingly easy in recent years to point the finger at any four player cooperative game in Japan and call it a Monster Hunter clone. I'm not particularly fond of this way of thinking. Despite my love of ...
This new gameplay video of Final Fantasy Explorers has me praying to the ghost of Gunpei Yokoi that Square Enix will localize this game to the U.S. The gameplay looks to be somewhat like the Monster Hunter series and that is...
There's finally been a release date hammered out for Final Fantasy Explorers in Japan, and it's headed for a 3DS nowhere near you (unless you live in Japan) this December 18. There's also a savory bit of new information surro...
Finally! A game that understands me on a personal level. Final Fantasy Explorers will feature Freelancers. Kind of like me, except these freelancers can create equipment for themselves using raw materials. When you start out,...
Japan just had a third-party Nintendo Direct, and it decidedly focused on Final Fantasy Explorers at the start. Square Enix revealed that the game will be hitting Japan sometime this winter, which is a fairly quick release given that it was just announced. If you want to see the game overseas, make sure you pray to your favorite summon that it sells well over in Japan. I call Odin!
Jobs are a tried and true staple of the Final Fantasy series, and Square Enix has been experimenting with them for years on end. In Final Fantasy Tactics (among other games like Final Fantasy XIV), you could learn skills...
