Like Nick, I can’t help myself from being excited about Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure. I’m not known to act excited about my Nintendo DS -- it feels like I haven’t bought a game for it in years -- but it appears as if EA’s exclusive title will have me from day one.
The game is a creative and refined blend of two unrelated genres. The top screen handles the game’s hack ‘n slash gameplay, while the bottom is devoted to the game’s puzzle elements. The above video may help you get a handle on the game if Hamza’s preview hasn’t already. The vid is called “The Life and Death of a Puzzle Enemy” and focuses on the smooth interaction between the action and puzzle elements.
While illustrating the interplay is great, I found the robot stuff the most exciting. If you gain enough energy within the puzzle portion of the game, you can use that energy as “super exciting robot juice.” Basically, it allows Henry to pilot a mechanical monstrosity, capable of dealing out massive amounts of death with a variety of crazy weaponry. Sounds great, right?
I think I'm finally really excited about a DS game.
To be honest, even though most people seem to swear by their DS's, I think it's pretty damn scant on great games.
Between this and Culdcept DS (and maybe Pokemon Platinum if it's that much better than it's predecessors) there could be a lot of DS playing in my future.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Does this juice come out of the super exciting robot shaft?
