Noir Trilby your best bet is Kyoto Lounge in Manchester if your looking for a gaming bar nearby
Will be donating £10 though; would love to see something like this!
Thanks @StarPlatinum your money for that is in the post :)
@James
I looked into your cafe a bit, what I saw actually made my jaw drop.
Those Portal inspired drinks are way too awesome, and the fact that you have a drink dedicated to Brewster makes my skin tingle.
Dang! Reading my mind before I can even think of the thoughts you've read! Too awesome.
It's one thing when it's for the creation of a product that can ultimately be put in people's hands, but a business that ultimately is responsible for its own sustainability?
I'd rather make an actual investment so that I could see a return on it, unless contributing entitles me to a year's worth of free drinks or something like that. But seeing as how I live in the Midwest of the US, something like this has absolutely no benefit or gain for me, outside of an actual return on my investment of capital.
James already HAS a business, this is just a little assistance to help open a second location. He clearly states that he could do this on his own if need be, but I think there is value in helping to make a place like this come to life. You're part of the process -- isn't that something to take pride in?
@GlowBear Thanks for helping!
@Raby We already have the business, I've spent two years building the sponsors and contacts so we're not just pitching this as a gamer wants to open a gaming bar. We need the funds because commercial funding won't back anything in hospitality post recession, hopefully the perks make a token $5+ worth investing :D

@soci0path London is where most of the industry is based so for us to be able to host their events/community nights (which will help pay the bills) we need to be nearby. The plan is then to branch out afterwards.
We're also announcing a digital chip tune 3 track ep next week (although you've just got the exclusive) which will be for all backers by Monster! Monster!
@King wiL Thanks! That's the idea, there really should be more around
That's just my point, it's a business that is ultimately responsible for itself and its own sustainability. A business needs to earn my dollar with a good product/service, not ask for it in advance on the notion of bartering and pandering for it. Suppose someone gets a number of free drink tickets for a year every visit, but the place goes tits-up before the year is even out, that'll leave a few people feeling like they got burned on a bad deal.
And pride sounds nice, but it doesn't make for a decent meal nor does it pay my bills. I'm currently living paycheck to paycheck right now, the notion of "pride" being reason enough for me to make myself poorer for no real gain is absolutely absurd. There may be value in bringing that place about, but there is none for me.
@ James
I wish you best of luck in your business and I am sure that you will build more success with it, but I think you can probably understand why it is that I'd find the whole arrangement given here to seem a little too dodgy for one's prudence with his wallet. No offense intended. And I'm not surprised that Kickstarter doesn't have something for an investiture arrangement, as I doubt they really thought that it would be used to literally fund a business in the same fashion as venture capitalism typically does. Their service has often seemed more like a down payment for a product yet to be made, for the most part.
It's crowdfunding, man. If people like the service, or in some cases the promise of the service, I see no harm in chipping in some money. It's a donation. Going into it worried about whether you'll be getting a raw deal is a very cynical position to take. It's not as though sites like Indiegogo and Kickstarter don't have measures in place to prevent folks from just running away with your cash. But if you are worried about, like, free drink tickets a year down the line, remember that those "perks" are not the point of the donation.
I know it's crowdfunding, and I know full well what it is as I've been following news about Kickstarter and the like for some time now; it's interesting stuff.
And I think I'm rather justified in my cynicism in what I pointed out: I don't have the money to give to something like this when I could very well need my own funding just to pay my bills. Paint me however you want, but it's my money at the end of the day. Like I said, if a business wants it, it has to earn it. Donating to a business that is in it for itself just seems absurd to me, beyond all that. I might as well ask people to donate to me so that I can continue doing my thing, and let you enjoy the pride in having help me continue to do so. Meh.
When I have money to piss away, I could, but I'd rather use my money to further my own means of making more money, at the end of the day.
I understand where your coming from, both Kickstarter/Indiegogo are very geared towards the project rather than the funders I'd agree. Your not obliged to deliver in the same way Double Fine 'could' release an awful game despite the huge backing.
My aim has always been to build the business and make it the sort of place people would want to hang out, if I was in it for the money I'd of stopped long ago or charge ridiculous prices. It's why there isn't yet a plethora of gaming bars. It's hard work, the money's rubbish and you barely get to play games.
Appreciate you taking the time to look at it and comment tho, just as happy to see you pop in some time when it's open and take your money in exchange for a drink then :D
Well, it isn't exactly like you need to take out a loan. A lot of people simply cough up a couple of bucks. You don't have to break the bank for something like this unless that's your choice.
But seriously, that $250 donation is an actual bargain, never even mind donating to a venture I very much want to see become a reality. I must say though, I think you'd possibly have a bit more luck putting your roots down somewhere less... Pricey. I dread to think what sort of rates you'll get lumbered with in central.
London is because we have the contacts to host the publishers events (We've been lucky enough to work on the RE6/SFxTekken launches) they hire out bars at a massive expense. So we've been busy working with publishers to make sure our space starts getting those bookings (we'd be cheaper because they aren't bringing in kit and removing it every time) which will make the extra rent worthwhile.
