Help Reggie get Wii Healthy photo

Those of you following our E3 coverage have already heard about Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime's less-than-impressive showing at the Wii Fit demonstration. He tried the route of denial by claiming "heavy clothing," and when that didn't work, he hauled out the ol' "muscle is heavier than fat" chestnut. Sadly, the truth was revealed -- Big Reg is overweight.

Wii Fit doesn't lie, and called out the Regginator's Body Mass Index at 27.51 -- that's 5.21 points higher than a healthy adult man ought to be. Since BMI is an indicator of overall health, the kind people at WiiHealthy have rightfully become concerned for him, and have started an online petition to help Reggie get back down to a healthy size.

Luckily for Reggie, he already has all the necessary tools at his disposal. Why, with the broad range of fine Nintendo products designed to espouse a healthy lifestyle, he should have no problem beating the bulge with his company's very own games! Sign WiiHealthy's petition and leave Reggie supportive messages of encouragement.

After all, "Fils-Aime" translates, from French, to "beloved son," so let's take a nurturing role and send Reggie our kindest wishes for a speedy slimdown! Reggie, if you're reading this, there's light on the other side -- you can do it!

On topic: Ran out of "good" E3 news have we? :)

Of the subject of BMI: Unfortunately BMI is not a universal standard for measuring how healthy a person is. It's not even accurate to measure how fat a person is. Lots of my amateur-body-builder-friends get's super high BMI even though they're just muscular... so nyah!

He's spending too much time rambling on about stats and crap, instead of playing Wii sports or Wii fit.

Yeah, BMI is actually a pretty terrible measure of "health" or even obesity... The idea came about back around 1840, and for some reason is still being used by people today, despite it not meaning a damn thing.

So, where are the actual Wii games? Nintendo outsold everyone else, and all they're doing is making stupid-ass crap, and the Big 3 - Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. All of which take forever to be released.

"Soccer mom" is right. I don't want to "play" "games" to get fit. I want to cut off a monster's head, shoot a mobster, and defeat a horde. This is rediculuous. Even my non-gaming wife would hate these "games". Her first ever gameplay experience was GTA San Andreas. She loves it.

/Not a Wii owner, and most likely won't be because of this retarded trend.
//Was THIS close to buying a Wii six months ago.

Why doesn't he jog his fat ass over to ILM and tell George Lucas to get off his fat ass and make a respectable lightsaber game 4 the Wii that doesn't have anything to do with leggos?

In closing, I will now call Reggie, "Fatty McFatterson".

My BMI ain't pretty. Not that this is an excuse - I know damn well that I need to get in shape - but the BMI is bullshit, as Pattern said.

I love Reggie, man. Sony really needs to find a solid frontman, like Reggie and Peter Moore. The closest they have is Phil Harrison.

You'll have to release shirtless pics to prove the haterade in the wii fit wrong, Reggie. Anything to sell a Wii, right?

Actually guys, for the AVERAGE person, the BMI is pretty accurate. The only people for whom the BMI doesn't mean anything are either OBVIOUSLY overweight or OBVIOUSLY in no danger of being overweight. So it still works rather well... and is a good statistic to ask for when those girls on craigslist say their weight is "height appropriate".

OMFG This shit was hilarious!! HAHAHA!!! He needs some Jenny Craig, WiiFit, WiiSports, WiiPlay, Wii need to exercise more, Wii need to stop eating at fast food restaurants...

DAAAMN!! Poor Reggie... Looks like he became too healthy once the Wii dollars begun to roll in!! HAHA!! But hey, 5 out of 10 commercials after midnight are about getting thin so he definetly have a choices (and money to do it) so Im not too concerned. Just dont end up like this! Wii need you!!

If J Allard did it you can too!!

The BMI is bunk. If a guy is actually all muscle, the BMI says he's obese. Reggie doesn't need to do anything, he looks fine to me.

Also, it should be noted that being a bit "overweight" isn't necessarily unhealthy... Different people have different healthy weights - But a bit of exercise will always be a good thing, and most people will agree that sliming down a bit has an aesthetic improvement ;)

Don't you have to measure fat index and height and bone size to determine obsessity and such?

BMI is total bullshit, sorry vinnchan. It's a completely inaccurate indicator of health based on data collected over 150 years ago. Most "average" people are classified as overweight by it. The only reason it's still used is because it's extremely simple to calculate.

Seriously. I know a guy who's over six feet tall and beefy. It's not all muscle, but no one with half a brain would ever call him anything worse than husky. The BMI, however, puts him at "extremely obese," or whatever that category is. It simply is not accurate.

Aaaaaaactually, healthy BMI range for both males and females is 18.5 - 24.9... perhaps you posted 5.21 dyslexically?

And BMI is strictly based on a height to weight ratio, so technically a person with high muscle mass could be construed as obese by the BMI scale. A method such as a DEXA scan or hydrostatic weighing could deliver an accurate reading of obesity level.
