Help me choose my five free Guitar Hero World Tour tracks

Help me choose my five free Guitar Hero World Tour tracks photo
     PS3

In case you missed it, Activision is giving away five free Guitar Hero World Tour downloadable tracks to anyone who purchased the game and the new World Tour guitar. Yes, free songs!

All you'll need to do is head over to the promotion Web site, enter some info, and you'll have the choice to choose five of the following ten tracks: Blind Melon's "No Rain"; Boston's "Rock and Roll Band"; Foreigner's "Hot Blooded"; The Killers' "Human"; Nirvana's "Silver"; Oasis' "The Shock of the Lightning"; R.E.M.'s "Supernatural Superserious"; Racontuers "Salute Your Solutions"; Rick Springfield's "Jesse's Girl"; and Smashing Pumpkins "The Everlasting Gaze."

So which five do I choose? It's a tough call. I already purchased "Jesse's Girl" to try out the in-game store, and I'm pretty sure I already own "Rock and Roll Band" in Rock Band, so that helps narrow things down a bit. But this is big decision -- help me!

Oh, and if you're interested in getting the free tracks yourself, hurry up -- the promotion only lasts through December 31. Note that it'll take 4-6 weeks to get info on how to download the tracks, so don't count on these tracks for your New Years Eve parties.

Hardest choice EVER ... especially considering I'll probably only play the songs once.

I'd go with Smashing Pumpkins or Nirvana. Their guitars never disappoint. The others are kinda superfluous, IMO.

Smashing Pumpkins "The Everlasting Gaze", The Killers' "Human", Nirvana's "Silver", Rick Springfield's "Jesse's Girl" go crazy with the last one Nick.

Serial Number? I have the owner ID from my manual...but no serial number...and I tossed the box, so I hope it isn't on there.

Oh, and Rock and Roll Band, Hot Blooded, Jesse's Girl, No Rain, and Salute Your Salutions would be my choices.

Since you have Rock and Roll Band already, I'd go with The Shock of Lightning next myself. Those Nirvana, R.E.M. and Killers songs aren't doing anything for me. I like those bands, just not those particular songs.

What's with the Jessie's Girl love? It's really quite a banal song that is a terrible in a game like GH or RB.

I wish they didn't lock you into the songs that have already been out for a while. I already bought all of these, so it's kind of pointless. I wonder if it will just be code you input into PSN or Live, and if you can use more than one of those codes. That way I can give my code to my brother or something.

Raconteurs, R.E.M., and Boston. Fuck the rest. The Raconteurs should be an especially good track for the game, with fast vocals, and it just plain rocks.

Also, Nick, the Nirvana track is called "Sliver," not "Silver." Supposedly, Cobain actually called it "Sliver" because he knew everyone would misspell it "Silver."

Most of these tracks are available in song packs, so I think that when I'd get the game, I'd still end up getting them that way instead of the rather messy proposition of buying singles.

DJP3DRO -- I'm actually thinking about it...as wonderful as Crazy Train and a few other songs on GH:WT are, I think selling the game might not be a bad idea...I could get so much RB2 DLC, and it would be all songs I want...hmmm...might be going on eBay before the end of next month...

Week, my Guitar shat itself so i had to send it back for repairs so i don't have it to find out what my serial number is. Lame.

I'll see if the code inside the drum kit works

Why the fuck should it take 4-6 weeks? You could all but guess the 20-character code through trial and error in that amount of time. Consumer-friendliness fail

If I were in your position, I'd grab these five:

Blind Melon's "No Rain"; Foreigner's "Hot Blooded"; The Killers' "Human"; R.E.M.'s "Supernatural Superserious"; and Smashing Pumpkins "The Everlasting Gaze."

Blind Melon, Nirvana, Foreigner, Raconteurs, Oasis...seems to be the more difficult/groove oriented songs. It's all crap anyway.
