Paris-based developer Load Inc. need your help. They've nearly completed work on their upcoming Xbox LIVE Arcade R.C. racing title, Things on Wheels. They've included 20 tracks (including a disco and a mini-movie theater!), 12 cars, and the power-ups. But now it's time for the important stuff -- the achievements.
Destructoid is teaming up with Load Inc. to give you the opportunity to help choose two achievements that will appear in Things on Wheels. The two winners will not only have their achievements unlockable in the final game, but their names will appear in the game's credits, which will help them win friends and dates.
Being a part of this is simple -- just comment here with your achievement suggestions, and on Friday, May 30, Load Inc. will hand pick their two favorites. Need inspiration? Examples of achievements already in the game include: "Find the Mad Tracks Car" and "Play a co-op game with a real player (Live or split-screen)."
How about an achievement for not playing the game, or an achievement for pulling your head out of your...well you get the picture. I hate achievements and achievement whores.
I would implore the developer to NOT make odd numbered achievements (no 7 point, or 2 point ones). Keep them at multiples of 5. I don't know what the other ones are, so I won't assign a point total.
Things Without Wheels - Knock over every movable object in each level.
Reverse Curse - "Beat a time trial while driving backwards - the entire way"
Rollin' - Barrel roll or flip over (on any jump) at least once on every track.
Also, if there are any kind of "collectibles" a la the GripShift coins, make an achievement that unlocks after collecting them all. I know it ain't original, but I like getting rewarded for hunting out a way to get all items.
Maybe give the 2 winners the game for free too...I'd take free over my name in the credits.
My favorite kinds of acheivements are thr ones you accidentally get, like in Guitar Hero III when you fail the song within the last 90-99%. It was so odd to fail a song and get an achievement for it...
5G "Duck and Cover" Go under every possible piece of furniture and low level item in the house.
20G "Leno Would Be Jelous" Open up every car in the collection then take first place with every car on every race. (Car 1, Race 1, Car 2 Race 1, Car 3 Race 1, etc.)
Wheels on Things 20G- Unlock all cars.
NorthPeak Games 20G- Unlock all tracks.
Name's Big McLargeHuge 5G- Use the game's largest car.
KnowLedge is Power 10G- Jump over a stack of books 20 times.
Panic at the Disco 10G- Race backwards through one lap on the Disco stage.
Theels on Wings 10G- Win a race and get one of each type of powerup on that stage.
Italian Plumber Cart Wee 10G- Completely lose a race after being in first for the first two laps.
I have to say, that games on the acrade whould offer up more of them. You can have 250 pts in certain games....Whay not all? maled no sense....stuff that added up to 400 to 600 pts would be better....

I like wardrox's achievement to, but it should also require you to actually win the race :)
15G - be in the top 10 of any leaderboard (including weekly, so that anyone can have it...)
Win the race after placing last in a previous lap.
5G- "Master RC" Win 5 straight races on Hardest setting.
We'll wait till Friday, but we already think we have one out of two!!

...or another specific room (but a specific room to make the coding simpler)

For mine, i've referenced the British TV show about cars: Top Gear.
"Captain Slow" 10g- finish last when you have pole position.
"PAWAAAAAA!!!" 5g- perform 10 powerslides.
"All we know, he's called the Stig" 20g- win 10 multiplayer races in a row.
Two burgers REAL fast - Complete and win a race while being one lap or more in front of all of the other racers.
POWER UP! - Use all of the power ups in one race.
Lead Foot - Consecutively win 5 online races in a row.
Unload Inc. - Finish the game
We just handed out names for winners, but I'm not the one handling this part :p
