Hellgate: London is golden, single-player demo out on Friday photo

That’s right, Hellgate: London has gone gold. If you weren’t in the beta, you’ll still have a chance to try out the game before it’s released on October 31 with a demo that’s due out this Friday. Here’s what the demo will include:

The single-player demo represents just a small taste of the Hellgate: London experience. Gamers can choose from two of the game's six character classes: the Blademaster, a master of swordplay and action-packed melee combat, or the Marksman, a cool, calculating, long-range specialist.

In the demo, these heroes are able to battle through a small handful of storyline and side quests as they adventure through the streets and tunnels around London's Holborn Station.

Rather than make you google the system requirements for Hellgate: London, I’ll be nice just this once and kindly tell you that they can be found right here. I’d also like to remind everyone to start coming up with entry ideas for our Hellgate: London lifetime membership contest.

A few people have already entered, but we need more! Show us what your sick, twisted minds can come up with! Otherwise, you'll make Greybush sad, and you wouldn't want to go and do a thing like that, now would you?

For some odd reason I'm still not interested in this game. I don't get what people like about it.

I'll probably give it a try since I've heard some good word of mouth.

People who played the beta:
What did you think? Is it worth buying? Will the free game be enough or is it good enough to warrant paying the monthly fee? Does it innovate on Diablo II or is it pretty much the same with shinier graphics & different settings?

I played the beta and I really liked it. At the very least, I like that more people will be able to check it out with the demo.

Sorry not a very good explanation.

I will be picking this up on release day. The mechanics don’t feel terribly different from Diablo 2 but I wasn’t able to really play it extensively (mostly fiddling around with the different classes in the starting areas). I’m still undecided though if I’ll be paying initially or trying out the free membership.

I'll give the demo a shot, but I don't hold much hope of it running on Craputer™.

I don't understand why people would pay monthly for something that normally is free Diablo 2, Guild Wars, and so on.

Please tell me they fixed the remaining bugs, I just played the new beta build on Monday and it definitely had more than a few big issues left with it.

Heh, they fucked up on their system requirements:
"Video: DirectX 9.0c/10 compatible device w/ 128MB RAM or better and Pixel Shader 2.0 support; requires NVIDIA GeForce 6200/ATI Radeon 9000 chipset or greater "
The Radeon 9000 chipset does not have SM2 support; Only 9500 and up does. I should know, the lack of SM2 support is the biggest downfall of my otherwise good Radeon 9250. :'(
