Hefty Fable II patch nearing completion, no word on a launch date photo

Apparently, Lionhead mentioned something or other about a patch for Fable II a while back, but it's been so long I can't even remember them promising anything concrete in the first place.

Regardless of my horrible short-term memory, the all-inclusive patch I'm referring to is still being worked on. According to the Lionhead dev blog, the update is in the final stages of testing and will be certified ... soon?

No tentative release date is given -- probably to prevent our hopes and dreams from being crushed -- so there's no telling when the update will go live. The tone used in the blog linked above makes it sound as if the wait won't be much longer, though.

If you have been affected by a bug in Fable II, make sure to hit the jump to see whether or not your specific issue is going to be addressed in the patch.

Heads up! There are some vague story-based spoilers below.
  • The Ritual/Monk’s Quest – Fixed the issue with the Abbott becoming unresponsive if you leave Oakfield before he finishes talking. This will fix the problem if you’ve already hit it, too.
  • Rescuing Charlie/Rescue My Baby – after rescuing Charlie, you can now able to interact with objects
  • Guild Cave chest – resolves any issues with previously inability to retrieve items unlocked from Limited Collector’s Edition, website or Chicken Kickin’ game. If you’ve already hit this bug you should now get your items.
  • The Spire (Pt2) – no more issues with ship captain being unresponsive
  • The Hero of Skill (Pirate King) – you’ll no longer get stuck during Hero of Skill quest (Bloodstone)
  • T.O.B.Y./Trouble In Bloodstone – you’ll no longer get stuck during T.O.B.Y. quests (Bloodstone)
  • Your child - will no longer be chosen as an assassination target
  • Furniture Shop in Albion (Bowerstone) will now always have something for sale
  • Additional unspecified fixes

I'd never heard about the one listed where your child becomes your assassination target. To me that actually sounds like a pretty funny bug...

Child Assassination had me laughing pretty hard. It amazed me how buggy Fable 2 was when it came out. Clipping into and out of things, having people not respond to you, a bunch of other crap. My friend went on a mass murdering spree with me in co-op, when he logged back on next time he had horns, but he didn't lose his halo somehow. On his same account, his wife once disappeared (before the event with Lucien) and has never come back. She didn't divorce him, she's still listed on his family list, he "revived" her with the middle option in the ending, but she's just plain not there.

Not a bug, your wife and child are killed by Lucien, it was more of a moral decision from the developers than a bug fix, personally I wished the child could grow up and become a companion, oh the road not taken...

That's a killer bug, since kids are not harmable.

Now if your wife ended up as a target, then you had to choose to break the contract, resulting in a fine or serious fight, that woudl be great.

I hope the fixes will get rid of my non-existant-because-I-killed-him husband who still takes my money and whom I still, apparently, have a kid with.

It's not a MAJOR issue, it's just annoying as all hell.

Surprised the marriage issues aren't mentioned (wife disappears, wife runs from you, duplicate wives when you move), as I know they hit a lot of people. Maybe they fall under the unspecified issues.

I am one afflicted with the Bowerstone furniture store bug. Funny part was that to fix it, I went on a mini-murder spree. That showed the store owner...sell your stuff or people will die.
