Heavy Rain gets US release date of February 26 (Update) photo

Spicy hot news for anybody looking forward to Quantic Dream's PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain. The "not quite a videogame" videogame has been given a release date of February 23 in North America (and Wednesday 24th February for mainland Europe, and Friday 26th February in the UK and Ireland.)

Heavy Rain is the brainchild of David Cage. Players take on multiple characters as they hunt for the Origami Killer, get into QTE fights and brush their teeth with a SIXAXIS. Whether it will be triumphant high art or a total disaster remains to be seen. I really am hoping for art, but that depends on how much tooth-brushing there is.

[Update: Our original story had Heavy Rain pegged for a February 16 release date which is so very wrong. You'll have to wait an entire week -- the game will hit on February 23 in North America. The story has been updated to accurately reflect this info. Sorry for ruining February.]

@Rockefellow I know, I'm seriously having to make a list and thinking about each game. I've already got like over a grand worth of games collected not even counting PSN titles. I'm hoping I don't spend as much this year.

@guillermo316. You have no avatar picture, so your opinion is irrelevant. Also.

YOU'RE. Not YOUR. Good LORD that drives me crazy.

But yeah. This game reminds me of Shenmue, just with a more adult theme. I hope it pulls off something great.

Typo in that last sentence there, Jim. But dammit, it really sucks that I'm stuck at college without my PS3. Guess I'll have to give in an be willing to wait until Spring Break to play Heavy Rain...though Just Cause 2 will be out by then...*sigh*

...This has been listed on Amazon and Gamestop for some time now...
But aside, as much ass I like LE's, I think I can get by with this and the free chapter DLC...
There are far too many Limited Editions to buy these next couple months anyway.

From what Nick Chester said on Podtoid that game is gonna suck. Between 30 minuets of controlling stupid shit like the act of getting out of bed drying yourself off after you take a shower with the sixaxis and finding your mentally retarded son who doesn't know not to leave his father in a fucking shopping mall it looks like it's gonna be pretty far up it's own ass.

2010 has opened really strong so far, and it looks like it won't stop. I like, my economy don't.

I'm all for a great storytelling in a game, but the more I hear about Heavy Rain's "gameplay", the more it goes from "must have" to "do not want". I hope I'm wrong, but convincing kids to do their homework and motion controlled toothbrushing sounds like the most boring ass game I could imagine.

Yikes. So that means I have a scant 2 weeks to complete White Knight Chronicles?? I can't see that happening easily. Q1 is indeed going to deal massive damage to my wallet. :-)

If this is anything like Indigo Prophecy, it'll take you one or two sittings to beat. On top of that, once you beat it, you'll probably never want to play it, or even think about it again. Then you can go back to White Knight Chronicles, which is probably actually a good game.

Right around Valentine's day?! I won't have any money for games then!

Heavy Rain, apparently, is not for lovers...

Finally this epic game, made out of pure epic epicness hits the stores!
And so finally we can see with our epic eyes whats in this epic cake.
Then, maybe some fanatics will realise, that this not more or less, is also just a adventure game with tricker timing events.

Yeah, was just going to say what Mattchewie said, the PS Blog states it is releasing the 23rd, not the 26th of February.

Damn, I can't wait. I know shouldn't keep my hopes up, but I can't help it.
I enjoyed Indigo Prophecy a lot, I'm sure I'll love Heavy Rain.

As long the plot doesn't go all crazy at the end like IP.

I'm not to much of a fan of adventure games but the fact that I read you can do anything you want like brush your teeth or take a shower it seems like a first real take into a really different game. All games latelt lack all the innovation that drove me to play games when I was little and for once I have that excitemnt back! I understand how fools use their voice on the internet to bash everything they can but this game isn't out yet. Don't say its guna suck because we don't know yet. But just a feeling this game is going to blow all expectations

I'm in the same boat, the more I hear about this game, the more it goes from 'must buy' to 'must rent.' Using the sixaxis to brush your teeth? To dry off after a shower? What's next? I can't help but think back to this classic VG Cats comic that probably predicted this:

The Smoker.

Pretentious much, Quantic Dream?
