Two years following the release of Heavy Rain, a "Directors Cut" version of the game is set to hit stores on November 8th. Continuing the trend of "complete edition" releases, this package includes previously unreleased content, as well as videos, the soundtrack and "The Taxidermist" add-on content.
For my money, Heavy Rain is a game best experienced in an MST3K setting, where you and your friends can laugh at the strange behavior and odd characterizations. I've already done that once, though, and something tells me it's not going to hold up to repeated viewings in the way that, say, Manos: The Hands of Fate might.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Can't wait to see what Jurassic Park does with the formula
Which is to say enduring a socially inept French man writing an incomprehensible story where realistic looking humans interact in a completely.
Damn autocorrect.
Was basically funny commentary on shitty movies
The people of that show now moved onto rifftrax.com
Douche Cage: Pardon, not in it for the money
Douche-ier Cage: rebuy this shitty game!
Cage leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I really don't like the guy. He's like a failed director who desperately wants to prove to Hollywood what he is capable of; whilst constantly reminding the gaming world that he does not make games. Fuck him.
I really want to play the game with the scrapped supernatural stuff to see how much it changes the story.
Resident Evil 1 had a Director's Cut, do you people hate on that title too? This game didnt win so many GOTY's so its not named GOTY edition , derp, it Director's cut, meaning the game director decided what to put.
I was glad at first that a Heavy Rain/ Cage article wasnt posted by Jim, but oh well, I geuss if a game isnt a military shooter or the director isnt Kojima then both parts will be getting un-called for hate from this site.
Shinji Mikami must be a massive egomaniac because he did it 14 years ago back when games didn't even resemble movies.
Sounds like my personal hell.
Well, first off, this 'Director's Cut' has just been announced. I wasn't exactly around on Destructoid when that specific version of RE1 was released, so that statement's moot.
Also, I've played Heavy Rain and, gameplay-wise, enjoyed the hell out of it. I'm also a huge fan of Fahrenheit. Still, Heavy Rain had a LOT of shortcomings, something almost everyone agrees on. A terrible story filled with plotholes, ridiculous twists, from time to time subpar voice acting; seriously, there were quite some issues with this game. So that "hate" is pretty justified in my opinion.
Just because Heavy Rain was 'different' doesn't make it immune to criticism and most definitely doesn't make it a piece of art. If you HAVE to be pretentious in your gaming, go for something truly great, like Flower, Okami, Shadow of the Colossus or Flower Sun And Rain. Y'know, games that aren't severely broken.
Also:
I wish MST3k would do Heavy Rain, that would be so funny.
don't really want to play it again.
@Pro-Anti-jimmyx Im sorry but I fail to see a game on this. The only thing u do is take some decisions as the character moves forward.
