Hungry for more Heavy Rain? Get in line -- this gorgeous PS3 title has quite a few of us drooling copiously at the Dtoid offices. A demo was recently shown off at the Micromania Games Show in Paris, and a bit more information was revealed about Quantic Dream's upcoming adventure title.
In addition to what we already knew about the game having no loading screens, the demo showed the main character (a young journalist) as she goes to the house of a taxidermist who is suspected of murdering young women. Let me tell you, I might have done some grubby things in my day writing for the robot, but I've definitely never been sent to a potential murderer's house, so I consider myself lucky.
Anyway, back to the game: multiple camera views and Sixaxis-enabled control is only half of the fun. You can hear the thoughts of the main character, so you will be aware that different choices are available in your near future, and in order to stay hidden you will have to depress multiple buttons (which sounds a little annoying to me, but it's supposed to jack up the stress the player will feel).
After just having played through Linger in Shadows, I have to say I'm all about seeing games innovate and force us to think about the way we play. I think Heavy Rain will do that as well, not to mention possibly immerse players in one of the most organic gaming experiences on the PS3 to date. What do you think?
Much as I pretend to hate QTEs, I love games that make with the drama. It's easier that way when you've a household to share the HDTV with, as they've something to watch, rather than just me kicking peoples' nuts in Saints Row 2.
And the fun fact about this this demo is that this part is not in the game because they don't want to reveal anything about the scenario until the game is actually released.
I watched this yesterday (I won't say where, but it absolutely wasn't "Hip Hop Gamer") and I was pretty impressed. It looks really good, graphically. I'm not entirely thrilled with the idea of an entire game made up of motion controls and QTEs, but I can appreciate it as an experiment.
Fuck if that sequence isn't damned disturbing, though.
Goddamit, I can't watch this with that french fucker blabbing so much. I'm sure it's awesome though. I mean, go play Indigo Prophecy. These fuckers (more or less) know what they are doing, and it WILL be awesome.
Damn. That looks amazing. The tension was pretty great, and things just felt "right" in terms of setting the mood. Definitely excited to see if this works out.

nutkickering is a damn good show to me. But I have a silly sense of humor.
*waits for own copy of Saints Row to travel from Canada to Brazil*
