He-Man and Skeletor found in World of Warcraft photo

This is likely to be old news to those of you already embroiled in World of Warcraft, but those of us who inhabit the world of the washed have only just discovered that He-Man and Skeletor can be found hiding out in World of Warcraft. This is thanks to a pair of trading cards baring their legally different enough to not be considered copyright theft faces.

As you can see, "Adam Eternum" and "Keldor the Lost" (names based on the original alter egos of the iconic Funimation characters) look pretty badass in their new Azeroth digs. I'm guessing that the status of parody and/or homage protects the characters from any legal issues, or perhaps Blizzard worked something outwith the license holders. Either way, everybody loves Skeletor, so WoW just got a little more cool.

Have any of you MMO fans met these guys? Or are there any Masters of the Universe fans now signing up for a WoW subscription as we speak?

Skeletor er I mean, Keldor the Lost, looks awesome. So these are NPCs from the WoW?

Yeah, they're located in Shattrath, been around since The Burning Crusade expansion. Had no idea there were also trading cards though. :)

Adam Eternum is accompanied by his armored pet tiger IIRC.

I'm pretty sure that both of these NPCs are Arathi Basin battlemasters for the Alliance and Horde. They've been around for maybe a year or two now but I had a good chuckle when I first spotted them.

Hatred of Jim Sterling: Increasing site hits and propelling Destructoid.com to fame and fortune since whatever year Jim started writing for the site. Oh, the irony.

I dunno bout skeletor there, but here is a shot of He-Man in the game. There are hundreds of these kind of references all over the game.

Seeing as my hunter is currently a Shattrath resident (til I upgrade to WotLK... long story), he tends to pass by Adam Eternum on the way to the Lower City ammo vendor. Keldor the Lost not so much: he's "just there" next to the Horde Warbringer, and after 3.1 I don't need to talk to either Adam or Keldor to queue up for Arathi Basin.

There are tons and tons of pop culture references in World of Warcraft, ranging from parodies of characters to recreations of sequences from movies.

3 years ago when I was active on WoW, the character "Heman" was infamous for yelling "I am He-man; some say I like men, others say I like men." to which the aptly named skeletor would respond "curse you, he-man!"
God, sometimes I do miss barrens chat.

You know, I'd actually take the piss and say 'Oh, what next? Treguard from Knightmare?! Ho ho ho!' but I know somebody is going to tell me that he's in the game and runs a dungeon or something.

"Funimation" is clearly a mistake. You surely meant to type "Filmation"

And here's Skeletor, or should I say Keldor the Lost.

I have to be honest, all these years that I've played my world of warcraft account and it never dawned on me that this guy was a throwback to the mighty Skeletor. Looks weren't that close anyway...
