A remake of the cult favorite Unreal Tournament 2004 mod, Air Buccaneers, has been announced by the original creators, Finnish studio Ludocraft. Rock, Paper, Shotgun reports that Air Buccaneers HD will be remade in UDK but that very little beyond that and the 2012 release window is known at this time.
Air Buccaneers was one of the original winners of the "Make Something Unreal" contest back in 2005 alongside Red Orchestra. Modern winners of the same award include The Ball and Killing Floor which of course already have downloadable releases on Steam.
Air Buccaneers was a highly original mod that embraced teamwork in order to control a flying galleon with an array of armaments to destroy enemy vessels and rule the skies. It's certainly a pleasure then to welcome it back with the original studio at the helm.
