By the way, thanks for posting these, Tony! I too forget to check for them.
Which wouldn't really be that bad, if they didn't impliment FUCKING VIDEO ADS ON REGULAR WEBPAGES. At least 5 times now I have gone to GT to watch a video, got to the page that takes me to the video, at which time a video ad popped up, which prevented me from clicking a link to the fucking video I wanted to watch. AND THEN I WATCHED AN EXTENDED VERSION OF THE SAME AD BEFORE I WATCHED THE ACTUAL VIDEO!.
Needless to say, I don't use GT nearly as much as I did before the change.
Firefox saves the day due to Adblocker. Because I can never tolerate ads. Ever. I don't browse the internet to see ads. If I want to support you, i'll donate or buy yo shiz.
I havent used gametrailers at all since the change. The page had a perfectly good layout and now its a confusing mess.
Unfortunately I am morally opposed to adblock, so I just go without gametrailers now. Not a huge deal, I just think that the idea of an unskippable/closable video ad for a webpage filled with links to places with more video ads is a horrible way to treat a reader/viewer on the internet.
This one was my first after realizing Ash was actually a chick, so really actually my first one as I didn't quite "get it" before. And it was damn good!
"I also drew a picture of you on fire."
Also to the people bitching about firefox while at some point it may have had memory issues crashes and slowness now firefox to me and my own testing is clearly faster than chrome, firefox is very stable so stable that I even went nightly without any issues so really most of the problems where things from the past.
I agree. Unobtrusive ads are an integral part of us getting the content that we want. A video ad preceding a video that has been provided to me free of charge? By the gods! What devilry is this? How dare someone expect to be paid for providing a service!
I guarantee that everyone who bitches about ads is absolutely not working for free. No one does that except hippies. Us self important pricks just expect everyone else to. Fuckers.
It's also noted to work on people over 15
Just thought I'd lend a hand ^^, since you forgot to add this.
I'd actually never heard of Ashly Burch until a couple weeks ago. Nor Anthony. It was only a passing reference in a podcast somewhere (Weekend Confirmed, likely) that got me to go give it a chance. I approached my first HAWP video with trepidation. I'm so god damn tired of the internet/video game bullshit of "look, I'm a girl and I'm doing something, therefore I'm going to be an instant hit durp durp!".
But I watched it.
And . . . holy shit. It was funny. And smart. It only took a few videos to really appreciate the writing (it's hard to be clever and concise, like those short videos require). I also found an easy appreciation of Ashly Burch, who just brings this delightful spark to the videos that is quirky, sincere, and smart.
I didn't feel bad for coming to the series with the mindset I did. Almost twenty years of the internet has conditioned me to expect the worst, like that. To be pandered to by sub-par bullshit riding on the boobies.
As a follow-up, I happened to see the movie she did "Must Come Down" (and by "happened", I mean the fiance wanted to see it and I went along). I didn't expect to like that, either. I hate romantic shit. Especially modern hipster-ish romantic comedy shit. But it was good. Hell, *she* was good. I almost think she's wasted on Anthony's material. I'll probably buy it on DVD just to show my support to these guys.
Anyway, I'm a fan of the Burch's (including the awesome dad) and they gave me hope in a genre (internet game related videos featuring cute girls) that I thought was a lost cause. I just wish they'd do some longer material instead of these two minute bits. They should even Kickstarter that shit. I'd pay $10-$20 for a "season" (6-12?) of 10+ minute shows.
PS: I laughed pretty ridiculously hard in the episode where she mentioned "Brian Kotaku". I think that's the point where they really made a fan out of me.
