This looks amazing!
mind=blown
By the way are you guys gonna review No More Heroes : Heroes' Paradise?
picked it up for PS3 today, didn't even know it was out.
Oh I know that that link is, lol.
I searched and found out so I will be pre-ordering this for my PSP Go right away! I though I would help garner a conversation of sorts rather than hit up Google and thus far I believe I am off to a good start.
Suda51 is like the Lady Gaga of video games... and that's not a compliment. He's weird for no reason and inexplicably popular. I don't know anyone else who gets by on -- nay, is successful because of -- wackiness alone.
He is not popular, until this game, all his past works were only for a very niche market, his fans.
Dude, have you ever played any of Suda's games? God, we're lucky that people like Suda is still interested in developing video games.
I have followed so closely this title and it's finally coming out. Suda has the art and design, Mikami worked on the gameplay and Yamaoka is behind the sound.. and all of this melted in a story in a twisted Hell?
There is certainly nothing that can be wrong with this game.
PS: Alice: Madness Returns also coming out in June, what a month!
Yes, I've played a Suda51 game.
To your credit, sure, this game could be fun... I haven't played it, obviously.
However, I'm bothered by the "Oooh, look at this gun that shoots laser-skulls at school-girl shaped demon sheep while making toilet flushing noises! This game is going to be awesome!"
I think too many people get all hot and bothered by a little weirdness and there's like a weird-game-loving-cult out there. I think its damaging for the industry and games' merit should be based more on game play, story, art direction, innovation, etc., not just how wacky or obscure it is. Same goes with Catherine - so many people are all pumped up for it because... its weird.
My PSP Go will be getting so much action with these new ports....
It's not about the weird. It's about the different.
Damaging the industry? Really? I think it's absolutely the opposite, like I said, we're lucky to still have people like Suda developing.
Because it's always exciting for me to see people who support the different and don't give a crap about what the anesthetized mass is playing; countless of generic, uninspired and colorless FPS and others.
But don't get confused, I also think like you about the game's merit; gameplay, story, art direction, etc. So, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that a game should be as great as much wacky it gets. It must have sense, an integrity.
Fair point. I hope my stance isn't mistaken for one that does not appreciate new and different creativity. I can certainly appreciate that Suda51's products are different different which I suppose has some base value unto itself.
It's not my cup of tea and I get the impression that many of his fans don't know why it's their cup of tea. Maybe they don't have to.
I agreed with that. But don't get the wrong idea, I'm not saying that all Suda's games are brilliant, even if I like a lot some of his works. There's no "if you're different = you're brilliant" formula, I wasn't saying that.
Although I recognize I'm a big fan of horror/dark fantasy, that's true. So for me yes it's kind of my cup of tea I think.
Anyway, I just support the idea of a developer aiming for something, as you say, creatively new and different.
lol your compairing Suda51 to lady gaga? seriously what a stupid analogy.
he has his own flair just like kojima just like nomura(hate him or not) and pretty much everyone in the indsutry. and damaging the industry? how? this is too funny XD
ohhh and btw it's always nice to see some crazy stuff than your average game. if all games where just about seriousness and blood and pretty much every FPS COD copy shit that has been released this gen. im pretty sure "those" are the ones damaging the industry.
"It's not my cup of tea and I get the impression that many of his fans don't know why it's their cup of tea. Maybe they don't have to."
lol this is too much XD im pretty sure we love the game because it's too different, something new and sometimes mind blowing.
i suggest you playing more of his old games to understand his style. but if it's not your cup of tea fine i respect that. but don't call him like he's damaging the industry for releasing these type of games.
as for this game, i was skeptic at first since i was hoping for another Killer 7 game, but as more info piling up, the game get's better and better ^^
"It's not my cup of tea and I get the impression that many of his fans don't know why it's their cup of tea. Maybe they don't have to."
I've been a fan since I played Killer7 on the Gamecube. It's not about different for the sake of being weird, it's like any other form of entertainment that shrugs off conformity; it's a new experience, it plays different, looks different, feels different. People get jaded playing the same damn thing over and over.
I've been done with FPS since Halo 2, since then I haven't seen anything new or innovative added to the genre. But Suda's games have a slightly familiar feel to them, like playing an old NES game but offer a lot of new and innovative experiences, without all of the "Achievement Unlocked: Managed to look at the ceiling and floor in training mode" bullshit. Also, they're not fucking brown like every other game this generation.
