While Playing L.A. Noire I've sort of fallen in love with this genre. I hope the developer can match the quality of the source material.
"Writing a good mystery is hard, writing a good mystery about one of the most celebrated sleuths ever is much harder." ... and turning that into an interactive experience is probably even harder than that. ;)
The thing about Holmes is that most of the original stories weren't really fair-play detective fiction. That is to say, for 3/4 of the adventures he starred in, the evidences needed for readers to have a shot at solving the mysteries aren't revealed until Holmes himself unmasks the culprits. In that regard, the recent movie adaptation of Holmes was faithful to the format of Conan Doyle's original tales.
If, however, this game is going to be a fair-play mystery (one that players can solve on their own), I'm gonna have to place it at the top of my wish list.

Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper was surprisingly good despite a myriad of minor technical faults/limitations, so I'm definitely interested in this.
i stopped playing holmes vs the ripper pretty early on, for several reasons.
firstly, holmes's voice actor was awful. it was as if he'd not only decided not to emulate the performances of the fantastic Basil Rathbone or Jeremy Brett, but to not even watch them at all. he plays holmes like a stereotype stuck up english man, and it's not engaging to me at all.
while that alone would be enough to put off most holmes fans, the game seems to betray his character by having him do meaningless and pointless tasks that holmes would have never considered. his writing is not really up to the original standard either, but that would be a lot to ask really! it all just made me think the developers didn't really get the source material.
from what i played i don't think it was a bad game, but i wanted so much more out of a SH adaptation and i was badly disappointed.
