Like the Dragon Age fan trailer I just posted, someone is working on a Silent Hill fan movie and this scene from the movie is creepy as f***. User kiukle says that the movie will be out later this year and you can follow him on Twitter for updates to the film.
Director Leo Kei Angelos is working on the Dragon Age movie and is the same person working on this Silent Hill film too. If both turn out as good as these trailers look, then Leo needs to head to Hollywood and teach certain directors a thing or two about making videogame films.
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Meh. More haunted house than Silent Hill. Kudos for the work done on the costumes and set but it didn't really hit the Silent Hill mood for me. You want that slow build to a brief terrifying moment, not two straight minutes of running and screaming.
Not to sound too critical but I give it an A for effort, but that's about it. Not that I'm a whining fan-boy but this doesn't appear to have anything to do with the "essence" of Silent Hill, just similar looking characters (or at least one character that was only created for the movie adaptation and, in my mind, is one of the weakest/worst).
I won't pick it apart here but I found this to be more along the lines of Hostel and those other gore-crazy torture films, which is nothing like Silent Hill.
The look, the sound but not the spirit : /
I already thought the Silent Hill Movie was not that good (but did fucking quite well compared to other game related movies) but if even "fan"-made movies are starting to miss the shot ... well ...
Maybe Silent Hill (especialy the 2) is just too much of an abstract piece of game to be touched by anyone else than it's original creators : /
(god I hate sounding like a "better-before" fan boy -_-)
Definitely has the look. Maybe if it was a tad bit longer and less 'fade out/ fade in' transitions it might've been a little better. I'm not going to go too harsh on it because it's just a fan film and this was filmed well for one.
I actually really like what's shown so far. Not really understanding the negativity. From the title, the film is only "inspired" by Silent Hill and not an adaptation of any games. Let's be honest, no two games in the series feels/looks the same(i.e. The Room, Silent 3 starting in a mall, etc). The tact here reminds me of how the recent Mortal Kombat short started. Now look where that's gotten the director. Also people seem to be neglecting that these are just snippets of a bigger project. One I'm looking forward to, and I generally dislike straight forward fan films.

I was part of the Silent Hill 2 live-play a few years back, I can promise you that Konami is bound to send them a cease and desist letter as well. It's sad really.
not bad for fan stuff. I think the Hollywood version was actually pretty decent as far as game adaptations though- I mean c'mon it was better than Resident Evil and Doom, and I'm not even going to mention the Uwe Boll movies.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. But seriously, Silent Hill is the pretty much the one and only game franchise that actually has a good movie adaptation.
They both deserve some cheering on. I really want to see them make it big.
