Gamecock goes behind the scenes with Matt Piersall, main audio guy on Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars. Matt talks about some of his inspirations that helped him come up with the audio for Mushroom Men, and how everything in the game is connected to the music. Matt also talks about Les Claypool’s involvement with the game and you can actually hear one of Les’ song for the game in the first half of the video.
I don’t know about you, but I have a giant craving for Primus right now. I’ve always been a fan of Les’ bass guitar work and the Mushroom Men music (so far) sounds great. It would be great if Gamecock includes a soundtrack CD when the game is released this November. What do you all think of the music?
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Les Claypool Bands (all of these are fucking awesome):
Primus
Oysterhead (Les, Trey from Phish, and Stuart from The Police)
Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Burnie Brains (Les and Buckethead)
Les Claypool's Flying Frog Brigade
Les Claypool and The Fancy Band (the first band on the video)
Les Claypool and The Holy Mackrel
Pendelton21, let us not forget that Bernie Worell plays keys in Bucket of Bernie Brains and Brain is a sick drummer. Also, there's a band called SAUSAGE that Les is in that is also badass. Gotta love Claypool.
From what I have seen of the gameplay, the game itself somewhat mediocre. That being said, this approach to sound design is both facinating and compelling. I'm not saying I would play the game to experience the audio work that has been applied, but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing some other games cop the approach for themselves.
I believe I saw Les mention in an interview that he plans to incorporate some of these songs into his live set, and he also wants to release some of these tracks on his new CD.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Now, go out and listen to more Les!!!
Also, I know how fucking awesome Bernie and Brain are, but most people around here will be drawn to the fact that Buckethead is there.
I actually went to see a show during the tour that they show clips of. It's always a good live show.
