I kid. I heart the Japanese.
If quiet desperation is the English way, then the Japanese way is one of quiet deference, whether or not it's truly meant or real is largely irrelevant.

Hatchet buried: Tecmo Koei wishes Itagaki well
Aww! How sweet. It seems that they're all over the sour split drama when bad ass game maker Tomonobu Itagaki left Tecmo awhile back, taking much of Team Ninja with him. There was a lawsuit, unpaid wages and bonuses and threats of katana use. I made that last one up. Valhalla Game Studios is Itagaki's new gig, and they're working on some super secret new game right now. On Valhalla's webpage you'll find a bunch of congratulatory messages from some of gaming's biggest names. Tim Schafer and Cliffy B dropped in some nice words. But scroll down and you'll see a message from Kakihara Yasuharu, the new chairman of Koei Tecmo holdings. "Congratulations on establishing a new company," Yasuharu wrote. "I wish your company’s future prospects will be prosperous." That's really nice, Tecmo Koei! Look at you! They could have been really catty if they wanted. I imagine something like this:
Tecmo Koei Sends Best Wishes To Valhalla Game Studios [Siliconera] Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)I can't wait to see what the hell Itagaki is working on. The man makes entertaining games, and no one can deny it. Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden won't be the same without him (if they even continue). The Japanese are very different when it comes to matters such as this. Far more respectful, at least to your face! Ooooh!
I kid. I heart the Japanese. ugh, still at least two years before we get anything... oh well, I still have to beat Ninja Gaiden II in the hardest difficulty. This is the hallmark of the Japanese business acumen - never do anything that could cause you to lose face. It may be anything but genuine but at least you don't risk looking like you have no class, especially when the quietly judgmental eyes of the public (and especially your peers and competitors in business) are going to be upon you when it is your turn to speak.

It sold well enough at least, but Team Ninja plans to breathe new life into the game by making Dead...

Did it say battle an all Lu Bu army? And you can fight them with tigers? And Ryu Hayabusa? Why the hell not, I guess. I don't know what to say, other than "sold."
