Hasbro suing Atari over Dungeons & Dragons license photo

It seems that after years of publishing Dungeons & Dragons titles, Atari has come up against a disagreement with license owner, Hasbro. The toy and game giant is suing the publisher in New Jersey for breach of contract, alleging that Atari entered into a sublicensing agreement with Namco Bandai in violation of the Hasbro/Atari agreement. Hasbro is seeking monetary compensation and termination of the original licensing agreement.

Atari has released a statement, calling Hasbro's claims, "meritless" and "an apparent attempt to unfairly take back rights granted to Atari." No word yet on how Namco Bandai actually fits into this equation, but the Japanese company did purchase Atari Europe back in March to act as its European distribution arm, so there may be some relationship there.

You know what? They can have each other. Atari hasn't published a game in a long time that wound up meeting my expectations and Hasbro, quite simply, is the devil. I hope it's really expensive for everyone involved.

If atari wasn't such an iconic brand name, I'd wish a horrible death upon it.

Hey now, The Witcher was pretty good. So was Riddick. And I liked Alone In The Dark, though I'm pretty much alone in that one.

From what I understand the Atari of today has almost nothing to do with the Atari of yesterday, except the name. So fuck em.

I think Atari is actually trying to push on releasing good stuff. Not the best, but they try. And it kind of sucks they are in such a small position now.

So yeah, fuck Hasbro this time.

Oh, and to answer Syn's question, yes. Hasbro owns Wizards of the Coast. They actually pretty much own everything when it comes to board games, Parker Brothers, Milton Bradley, Avalon Hill, etc. A monopoly if I've ever seen one. Oh wait, they own Monopoly as well :(

Have you played Champions Online? It's pretty good, IMHO. It's not perfect, but I have been enjoying it since beta. In terms of character customization (appearance AND skills), it is the deepest MMO I have ever played.
