Hasbro Family Game Night out on Xbox LIVE Arcade today photo

Today, Xbox LIVE Arcade isn't getting one new game -- it's technically getting four. Hasbro Family Game Night is merely a game launcher so to speak. It's a hub that allows you to play Scrabble, Connect 4, Battleship, and Yahtzee, all of which launched today and run for 800 Microsoft Points a piece.

It's somewhat hard to make out, but if you look close enough at the image above, you'll notice Sorry!, Boggle, and Sorry! Sliders. Those are being released "in the coming months," so settle down there, Sherlock Jr.

All of the games under the Hasbro Family Game Night label will offer online and offline multiplayer modes, but I can't quite figure out how Battleship is going to work on one television. Any ideas?

Anyway, I think I would be more inclined to whip out my wallet had these games been bundled together and set at a lower overall price. Regardless, I'll be shocked if we don't see Hasbro Family Game Night in the top ten XBLA activity list. For more specifics, go check out Conrad's preview.

800 points for Connect 4?
Wow....just...wow....

I'd be down for Scrabble, but 800 per game sounds nuts. Who wants to spend ten bucks on Connect Four? So yeah, I'll probably download the Scrabble trial and see if it seems at all worth it...

TOO expensive. Knock it down a couple hundreds.

Agreed with you guys. $10 bucks for Connect 4?

Shenanigans.

Well, Connect Four Physical Edition is 14.99 at your local retailer. Maybe you're getting a deal? Just think, no ripped up box shoved in a coat closet.

No, nevermind. That price is rubbish.

I was excited when I thought it was 800 points for all four games. I mean, scrabble and battleship are two of my favorite. Unfortunetly for Hasbro though, I own physical copies of both games and 800 points for each is too rich for my blood.

WAY too much money!

Oh, to answer your question about Battleship: Likely you'll only see your ship set-up while you're setting it up, and everyone else will look away. During actual gameplay, you won't be able to see your own ships, which isn't necessary anyway since the game remembers where they are to yell "Hit!". You'll just see the grid with the hits and misses.

That was a really, really nice way to say this is the biggest ripoff in the history of XBLA. Everyone on the face of the Earth would have bought all 4 for 800. This is retarded.

Yup, 400 each would have been a perfect price. Might still get Scrabble though.

Multiplayer Battleship on one TV could work just by having the AI randomly place your ships, and then only showing the targeting for both players. It's not like you need to see your side of the board if there is a computer that knows where the pieces are.
