Harvest Moon: Magical Melody coming to Wii; milking the cow just got WAY hot photo

In a surprisingly lazy move Marvelous Interactive's European wing, Rising Star Games, has posted information on its page detailing their plans to Ctrl-C, then Ctrl-V the GameCube iteration of Harvest Moon: Magical Melody to the technologically similar Wii platform. The Internet's Silconera, who alerted us to this news, also points out the fact that every screenshot, and feature-bullet-point offered by Rising Star just so happens to be smeared with a healthy glaze of last-gen residue in the form of the GameCube control scheme. One would assume they'd want to promote their brand-new motion-based functionality, unless of course it doesn't exist.

Would Rising Star, a company already exhibiting the sort of laziness that would have resulted in losing a foot only 150 years ago, port a title to the Wii without adding any Wii-specific features? It's bad enough that the game is going to look exactly the same, but if I can't pantomime masturbation while milking a cow, chopping down a tree or convincing a local farmer's daughter to pantomime masturbation, what's the point?

This game looks neat when my friend plays it. I think I'll just by the Gamecube version and play it on my Wii.

They seriously need to stop porting Gamecube games to Wii, except for games where it makes a difference like RE4. It makes as little sense as porting PS1 games to PS2... the second can play the first's games!

@ gomeja:

Gracias, I'm reading up on it now. It looks like the Cube version got good reviews, I might check this out. I haven't played a Harvest Moon game since the N64 one.

Goddamn, I was just playing that, like, five seconds ago. Unless you can up your dog's affection via red-rocket Wiimote action, I think I'll just stick to my Bitchcakes file on the 'Cube. (That is a fun game, though. Why the hell is farming so addicting?)

Hooray for fun farming games! I do own this for the GameCube already, so unless it's greatly improved on the Wii, I don't I absolutely have to buy it.

Are you sure that isn't a screenshot for a new DS Harvest Moon game?

This is exactly what the Wii needed. A new Gamecube game.

Agh. Yes this is the best Harvest Moon in a while. No we do not need a re-release. Magical Melody 2 would have been better.

I hated that game. Marvelous has been fucking up Harvest Moon lately, like adding stupid systems that made you collect shit before you could progress in the story like notes in this game and sprites in HM:DS. And, another thing that was bullshit about this game, weeds grew everywhere! And if you're a friggen hardcore HM player (so sad) you can't stand weeds and your field never had them, YET THERE EVERYFUCKINGWHERE in this game. BS.

hopefully Rune Factory, HM:DS2, and the real HM Wii game won't be total fuck ups.

Ah yes, I remember Harvest Moon for Game Cube. I got boogered in the butt by it because they FORCE you to buy a GBA, link cable and Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town to get to the crucial part of the game.

Yes, its like extortion, but... legal? I mean, you were missing half of the game unless you had all of those things. I didn't buy into it.
