Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns is coming to North America, and will be released simultaneously on both the Nintendo DS and the 3DS. Natsume teased this announcement yesterday on their Facebook page, and now we have the official release.
As always, you'll build a home and a farm, but in this one you're working to bring two towns together that became divided over food. Each town feels that their food/cooking is better than the other. At the start of the game you'll pick which town to live in. Will it be Eastern-styled Konohana with its abundant fields of crops, or the animal-loving, European-styled Bluebell?
It's still early but it sounds like the 3DS and DS versions will have the same content. Natsume says that they wanted to be sure that all fans of the series would have the chance to play this game.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
However, Bluebell seems like the place for carnivores, since they're "animal lovers". If they love them enough to add some seasoning and steak sauce to them, then that's where I'm living should I get this game.
"Tis a far, far better thing that I farm now, than I've ever farmed before..."
I think it was Harvest Moon DS where I spent a tonne of time digging for diamonds.
Whatevs. The Rune Factory series seems to have taken the wind out of Harvest Moon games as of late.
Harvest Moon is not Farmville. Shameful that you said that. The fact that farmville has ripped off blindly (and then what a nerve, accused others for copying them) one fraction of what one of the longest running game franchises offers, doesn't make them the same or equal. Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing spit on the ground.. and farmville came out of it. Shameful comparison.. it shows you don't know what you are talking about. Truly shameful. Next thing you will say that city ville is the same as sim city :D
I wonder, will the 3DS version see a Japanese release? Or is this just all Natsume?
Anyway, so exciteeed. I love Harvest Moon forever and ever.
1)Get a Farm
2)Get a Wife
3)???
4)Wonder where 300 hours of my life went.
Also, if you actually had played any Harvest Moon game you'd know they're not the same as farmville. But hey, since you don't care there's no reason for you to know about these games or have any basis to compare them, right?
The fact you would dare call Harvest Moon a "Japanese Farmville" shows how unbelievably ignorant you are. I don't care if you couldn't care less, but to display such a stunning level of narrow-mindedness is just depressing to see in other gamers. I won't deny that HM is probably one of the least innovative game franchises around, but to compare it to the malformed filth-ridden creature that is known as Farmville is an insult of the highest degree.
Least innovative? Maybe these days, but it was sure as hell innovative 13 years ago.
I like the core, full-featured HM games. I'm not really a fan of the "annual gimmick" ones.
