Today is the 20th anniversary of my favorite ever hedgehog that is blue and runs fast and is in videogames and is called Sonic. I decided to celebrate this beautiful event by debuting my first ever stop-motion film, Snonic The Snedgehog. It is inspired by Sonic and it makes me cry.
In all seriousness, as much crap as I've given Sonic games, I genuinely love that little blue fella. Sonic 2 was the first game I ever got the first console that was properly mine (and my brother's), the Sega Genesis -- or Mega Drive, as it is known in the UK where I used to live.
I still play Sonic the Hedgehog 2, to this day, and I will play it again today in celebration. SEGA and I are known to butt heads, but I earnestly want to thank the wankers for giving us twenty years of games that have ranged from utterly terrific to at least memorably bad.
My first games where mario 3 and final fantasy. I got a nintendo as a gift with those two games. Took me awhile to figure out what "Equip" meant. good times.
Also, I owned the SNES as soon as it came out, but I didnt get a genesis UNTIL Sonic 2 was released. The commercials for it blew me away, and they were selling it bundled with the system. Great christmas gift. So that was definitely my first sega game and I too hold it in high regard.
I'm really not sure what to say here other than, "Happy 20th Anniversary, Sonic!" And as for you Jim...I laughed. You're really too good at stupid humor, you know that?
I remember playing Sonic 1 at my friends house the day it released and it blowing me away. I didn't own a console until I was a bit older though.
I used to get car sick if I read... which we discovered when I tried to read a sonic comic on a trip.
My parents eventually got me a Game Gear to try and see if that would work better on the long trips across the Mojave (which it did) and it came with Sonic 2. Good times. Happy 20th blue buddy.
"Sonic 2 was the first game I ever got the first console that was properly mine (and my brother's), the Sega Genesis." That's nearly the EXACT story with me, only it was my sister. The NES belonged to the 'rents. Dumb, because I played it far more than they ever could. Cheap attempt to lure me into "family time?" Probably.
I owe Sonic a great deal of gratitude, even though he shat on my heart.
Snonic Snoom, Snonic Snoom, Snonic Snoom
Trouble keeps you runnin' faster
Snonic Snoom, Snonic Snoom, Snonic Snoom
Save the planet from disaster
Snonic Snoom, Snonic Snoom, Snonic Snoom
Spinning through a world in motion
Snonic Snoom, Snonic Snoom, Snonic Snoom
My first Sonic game was Sonic the Hedgehog 3. At first I didn't know what to make of it, what with the speed and everything but as I played it, I started releasing that there was a legitimate reason why people liked the blue blur: it was fun. So yeah happy 20th Sonic. In one more year, you'll be able to come to the states and legally drink all your problems away.
The original Sega Genesis bundled with the first Sonic The Hedgehog was the first gaming-related thing I bought with my own money. Happy birthday, Sonic! :D
