Hands-on with Pokemon Scramble and the death of a friendship photo

Pokemon Scramble is a 4-player RTS/beat 'em up that just hit Japanese WiiWare. Though many are sure to hate it because 1) it's a Pokemon game and 2) it's got low-poly character models in the style of Pokemon Ranch, I for one am pretty psyched for the game. I think I'm just a sucker for deformed pokemon.

The stylish men of WiiFolder.com have started pumping out a series of videos focused on Pokemon Scramble, and honestly, the game isn't that fun to watch. The real draw to the vid posted after the jump is watching the two guys playing the game slowly start to hate each other. There is a turning point at 5:50 when an awkward half-joke brings so much tension to the room that you half expect tears to start flowing

Can't wait for this one to come to the states so I can start making my friends cry, too.

Looks like it's fun for a few minutes, but at least the Pokemon series is expanding into other genres apart from trading card games and puzzles??? Oh and On-Rail (camera) shooters.

This sounds amazing. Anything other than the core Pokemon series is a welcome addition, in my opinion.

Side note: Is that "free to play Pokemon MMO" you see advertised on torrent sites a trojan/scam, or is it real?

I cant wait to play this with my housemates, it really looks quite awesome. Just hoping it doesn't have a year long wait 'til a Euro release, like most Pokemon games tend to..

I have yet to pick up Pokemon Platinum. I will probably get Gold and Silver too.

Looks boring as hell. I'll pass.

I do like the fact that Nintendo is trying something new with the series though.

I find it hilarious that adults play Pokemon shit.

@ Magnalon- I'm not sure. There is a Pokemon online fan made thing out there, but I don't think it's an MMO. I fear it's a scam.

Already downloaded this myself.

It's pretty neat, nothing I'd go back to over and over. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have every Pokemon, though I'm not about to count all 493 just to verify that.

Also, the game feels pretty brutal for a Pokemon game. Sure, it's a game about glorified cockfighting, but going around and massacring Pokemon just feels really weird, even if they're supposed to be wind-up toys or whatever.

If this comes to America's WiiWare I'd download it in a heartbeat. The looks like a lot of fun, like an old school arcade game kinda. My only complaint is that the environments are boring looking.

I don't really see the appeal in this game, there are tons of games just like this, sans pokemon. I'll pass and wait for the Gold/Silver remakes.
