Can the local multiplayer be up to 5 players? 4 split screen on the TV and one with the Gamepad?
Thanks and I've been reading your articles for a while now but just recently decided to join the site to comment. keep up the good work!
Also while not fitting into the "family" TV demographic I cant help but be intrigued by the off-TV feature. I wounder if you even need the Wiiu to be plugged into a TV while playing on the gamepad.
If the Wii-U has more RAM it might be able to handle split-screen in games the 360/PS3 can't, or offer 4-player vs 2-player. That would be quite a huge selling point if developers did it.
The gamepad can function as a headset. It has a mic and you can plugin earphones.
- couch VS multiplayer,
- bots,
- 5 person offline multiplayer with 4 person splitscreen,
but i may pick it up anyway when it hits 15-20$ if there's decent amount of content for offline multiplayer.
Seriously, I feel like a caveman using anything else.
BAH, convenience and technology! Bane of my existence...
Still no word on online voice chat, or an easy friend invite system?
Without those I don't see much of a point. I need to know these things. The reason multiplayer games are the most fun for me on the 360 is because I can be talking in a party with just my friends and not hear randoms. The reason Smash Bros Brawl was useless online (aside from the lag) was because we couldn't easily connect with each other and once we were we couldn't communicate at all.
I'm not expecting Ninty to get it xbox live right, but I want some confirmation of at least some basic functionality here.
Honestly I really like the idea of using the Gamepad while the TV is in use. Not really useful for me because my tv is MY tv, but it could be a really huge convenience in some situations.
I hear you bring that up on Podtoid a lot, Holmes. For the love of god, set up a little gaming area with your own screen already! Your Jonathan Freaking Holmes, grow a pair! Hell, it's negligent of you as a game blogger to not have your own tv. You think Sterling says "Hey, pookie? Can you pause Cupcake Wars so I can do something that's not lame? Oh, it's a marathon? OK, Snuggle-bottom, I'll watch it with you & quietly try not to kill myself then. Sorry sorry, I'll quit talking." Hell, I have my own game ROOM, and I'm just some asshole.
...not sure I'd like playing with a wii mote/nunchuck though.
what like a chimp or some 10 year old? who the hell cant use a gamepad but feels comfortable using the wiimote and nunchuck?
- 6-player local multiplayer with support for TWO gamepads and 4-player splitscreen
- Bots for offline multiplayer
- Online multiplayer with the ability for your local 6 players to all join a game with strangers
For a long time this gen I wanted a new shooter with proper local multiplayer with bots and stuff, but I sort of lost hope and interest in the idea. So it'd probably take all the above features to reignite that interest.
I got to hand it to the developer, including the Wii remote & nunchuck support is something every FPS developer allows for Wii U versions. Dual analog is just clunky and slow in comparison.
Also, lol @ King Retard himself, BrainWasherAttendent getting mad. Get madder, Lord Tardington.
New rule: people with no frame of reference for display and/or video quality shouldn't be allowed to make uneducated statements about them.
This is the same guy who made an entire blog crying about how the WiiPad could never, under any circumstances be consider a "tablet controller", then went on Twitter to argue with people about his ignorance on what constitutes a tablet.
Ugh. Gripes with the Dtoid staff aside, it's nice to see that Treyarch managed to put together a decent port of Black Ops II for the Wii U. These are the types of things that will help the console in the long run. The option to use the Pro Controller, WiiPad, or WiiMote+Nunchuck is also a nice usability feature for those who have different controller options. Though I am curious if this supports Classic Controller, 4+1 split screen, or will ever be updated for dual WiiPad support.
