Halo Wars demo is all up in your Xbox Live photo

If your strategy games have lacked green helmets and people calling you a f*ggot, then make sure you download the Halo Wars demo before going to work. It's up on Xbox Live right now and demands your attention.

It's a shiny 1.40GB in size and was just posted, so if you want to get in before the rest of America wakes up, now's your chance. You'll be competing with those bastards in Europe though, so be quick about it.

Also, don't forget to let us know what you think of this RTS take on the Halo universe.

I've never been a huge fan of RTS, or Halo for that matter. I have no problem with either, RTS just isn't my style of game, and Halo I'm just kinda burnt out on. But I'll give it a shot.
Who am I not to join the shambling Halo masses?

Ahh its downloading nice and fast here. I suspect when you Americans get out of bed the server will melt.

Why, how very dare you, Jim.

I wouldn't bother anyway, it's only Galo: Command & Conker edition. For gays.

Sony FTW!

Alternatively, wait til the yankie tossers tire themselves out and download it tomorrow.
It feels seedy, but it's fun waiting for this to come out. but it'll have a tough time competing with Onechanbara for my console time.

Us bastards? Keep your puny game. We`ve got Empire Total War and in it we`ll conquer you again. And Again. And once with France as an extra insult and we`ll rename the fries.

I'm not interested in this (or the Halo series) but I can't wait to see how it does. To me, marketing an RTS to many of the Halo fans who never play anything but first-person shooters is bound to fail, but we'll see.

I've beaten the demo twice, and I have a few things to say. First, I'm a huge Halo fan, go ahead and get that out there, and this is faithful to the universe I so love. Secondly, I've never played and enjoyed an RTS game before today, so that's always nice. The demo looks gorgeous, with both story cinematics and in-game visuals impressing me. There is a limited level of customization for vehicles and infantry, and you can only use two types of vehicles and two types of infantry, but both the upgrades and the units themselves are useful. Given that I've been waiting to play the demo for some time now, I like what I've seen and plan to go preorder this game in a few hours.

I'm skeptical about even bothering with downloading it. Thats how burnt out on the series I am.

Don't get me wrong, Halo is solid, but maybe too much of this good thing ruined my time with it. Granted I played Halo2 everyday afterschool for 4-6 hours for about 2-3 years. And when Halo 3 came out, beat it the same night it came out, and played almost nonstop for about a week, then stopped. Cold Turkey.

I'm more excited for Halo Wars then I am Halo ODST mainly because its something 'fresh'. We all know ODST is just going to be copypasta of Halo 3, except instead of shields your just going to have some other goofy regenerative health. Halo Wars at least brings something new to the table besides a different character skin.

Okay, WTF, glitch already? I played the demo again on the hardest setting, Heroic, and there was a third vehicle option, some sort of fast, agile tank thing. So, I replayed the demo on Easy difficulty, and the third vehicle was there too...did I somehow miss something, or did the demo glitch on me and deny me access to a vehicle for some reason? Anyone else have this happen?

As someone that has fallen out of touch with RTS games recently and enjoys the Halo universe, I found this demo to be fairly fun and fairly straightforward.
I'll definitely be picking this up and giving it a full go-round in March.

Played through it a few times-- I really enjoy it. For a console RTS it works nicely. It's definitely better than the last one I played. They worked the controls into a fluidity that I've never even had on a PC, and that's saying something.

great!

I was pretty curious about this game, how they handle the controls and all that, so a demo would be great to give it a go...
