It looks like Halo Wars will be dropping at retail next February, along with a Limited Edition that contains all kinds of fancy goodies.
Microsoft Games Studios and Ensemble revealed today that the Limited Edition will retail for $79.99 and will contain:
- Three New “Halo 3” Multiplayer Maps – Be one of the first to experience the Mythic Map Pack from Bungie which includes three new maps, “Assembly,” “Orbital” and “Sandbox”
- Halo Wars: Genesis – a beautiful graphic novel by Phil Noto, Graeme Devine and Eric Nylund chronicling the first military campaign against the Covenant. The novel centers around the Sprit of Fire on a mission to discover why the Covenant are so interested in the world of Harvest
- Unique In-game Vehicle – “Honor Guard” Wraith
- Six Leader Cards – Leaders possess elite skills which can turn the tides of battle
- Spirit of Fire Patch – Start the journey as an official Spirit of Fire crew member
Additionally, pre-ordering
Halo Wars at select retailers will get you a download code to get an in-game Warthog vehicle with -- wait for it -- flame decals. No word on whether or not they'll also be offering up Warthog whistle tips or rims.

couldn't have said it any better. that they even have the nerve to announce this collector's edition while no one still knows jack shit about this game reaks of consumer exploitation.
im a big fan of Halo in general but this game isn't even on my radar.
The Mythic Map Pack is six maps total, this offer only provides half of that. Do the people who buy this get a code to download the other three for free or reduced price?
Oh, and if you don't believe me, just look at the new Achievements, they're all listed in there where the Mythic Achievements begin.
