343 Industries plans to keep the Halo IP around for a while. Speaking to USA Today about the proliferation of Halo across various mediums, 343 Industries creative director Frank O’Connor said the Microsoft division has a creative plan for Halo that spans, at least, the next six years. He added that it should tie two bits of media -- the comic books and the novels -- together.
"We do have a plan that goes out at least six years," O’Connor said. "Eventually, it will become very apparent that there is a plan for the way the canon all ties together and the way the comic books and the novels all tie together."
As the Today article makes a point of, Halo is in everything from comic books, to videogames, to toys, and even to anime. It’s hard to believe that 343 Industries, the official caretakers of the Halo universe, wouldn’t be prepared to keep the IP fresh and moving for the next half-decade with all the stuff out on shelves.
That said, more Halo -- and possibly Master Chief -- after Halo: Reach? Bring it on 343 Industries.

You find something that kids scream at mum and dad to buy and you want to ride that train as long as you can.
Shame, the games are piss poor IMHO.
The games are always so flat compared to the novels and comics as far as exploring the Halo universe. Although I haven't played ODST. Maybe that one did.
oh i get it
video games are children playthings
That Uprising comic was shit though. The other one was cool and I'm glad I bought it but Uprising annoyed me
(before you guys start going off, read it, read it again, no where am i saying that if you play halo you're 12-18, just that it's AIMED at that demographic and DESIGNED for that demographic)
I think we're all aware that games aren't only for kids, and that adult video game entertainment has come a long way over the past 4/5 years, but still, SOME games are designed for kids.

Kinda makes me think that the Halo games could be truly brilliant if the mixed the amazing gameplay with the story from the comics and what not
I'm sure the current 7 ep ones will be cool, but more is needed.
So you think the games are aimed at teenagers? Why? I certainly hope there's more to it than simply because you don't like them.
Of my friends and their kids, I know of perhaps 5 people that LOVE Halo, 4 of them are between 10 and 14 (various friends kids) and one of them is 25. Even of my 360 owning friends, only one of them plays Halo, however kids of friends LOVE halo.
I would imagine that if there was a Halo player survey, it would certainly show a massive majority of players being teenagers. Do you not? i mean the 360's main (not all, MAIN) userbase is 12-18 year olds, so surely it's most played game is going to fall into the same demographic? Right?
Or you could always log on and listen to all the pre-pubescent voices screaming at each other!
I'm not hating, each to their own, there's nothing wrong with it being a bit of a kids game, it'll probably make more money than the best adult game! Just that adult games have a purchase decision to get past, where as kids want whatever their friends have and will not give up until they've got it, despite it's actual quality.
Even I agree that the Halo games are getting milked the way Activision tends to do, but it's hard to trust the "humble opinion" of such a dedicated Sony sellout.
Seriously, dude. Get a job, a life, and a shower. Only then will you ever see a vagina in real life.
I'm typing this from WORK, and it's certainly no Mcjob, I'm a fucking Marketing Executive for a global corporation.
I actually went to hospital this morning to see an ultrasound of my son in my Fiance's VAGINA and had a SHOWER in my on-suite in MY HOUSE before i left.
I love it when people assume that people on the internet are basement living dorky teenage virgins, like themselves.
Gamers come in all shapes and sizes buddy, all I'm saying is that many of those who play Halo are of the smaller, more annoying shape and size.
As for being milked. First Halo came out 2001. 5 games total. There's at least 10 COD games that come to mind. First COD game came out in 2003. What you call that if you think Halo is milked?
Marketing Executive for Sony, you mean. They take good care of their most devoted slaves, kinda like Scientology.
Oh, and in all seriousness, congrats on your kid. That's a beautiful thing.
Surely it is a rated M game, but so is GTA, a game series I really don't like since it came out on the PSX. We all know kids love this series and parent can and will buy it for them.
I'm all for game companies making money and making more games and making us happy in the long run, but teh Haylos are marketed towards teens and early 20 frat dudes. The new O.D.S.T. commercials annoy me to death.
In konklusion I agree with SexualChocolate and must now kill myself.
Lol i know (hope) that you were not being serious about your son being in your fiance's vagina, but it still made me laugh pretty hard. And wince.
Congrats on you coming kid, I had a girl six months ago and she's already reaching for my controllers.
"Halo is rated M. I'm not sure if you're retarded or not, but it's not made for kids. Kids play it yes, but that is a stupid argument."
Oh please. A game being rated Mature doesn't mean a game can't be targeted to kids. Look at Mortal Kombat back in the 90s. It was Power Rangers with gore. It gotthe adult rating but kids probably bought that more than adults. There`s a difference between Halo`s M rating and a game like Manhunt`s M rating. Hell I`ll even throw in the M rating Heavy Rain`s going to get. I don`t even know why Halo`s rated M. There`s not much graphic blood and for Pete`s sake Uncharted had more swearing, same amount of blood, showed corpses in graphic detail, and use of tobacco, and got away with a T rating. Storyline wise Halo`s for Teens.
Seriously though, my opinions of Sony are ONLY down to my customer experience with them. It's been many many happy years since i first picked up that Sony Walkman.
My opinions of MS, Halo etc are down to my friends moaning and bitching and my time playing on their systems. Not to mention my many years using non-gaming MS products.
I agree with Dr. Tran, and everyone else who notes that 343 needs to give it a fuckin' rest for awhile. You want to impress me?
Make a Halo RPG that doesn't suck. I bet you can't.
Halo ain't a kids game any more than anything else. More adults 18-30 (the core 360 audience btw) play halo than anything else. I even know Sony and nintendo fanboys that play it, yet hate MS. Because despite wannabe elitist opinion it's a fun game. It isn't the best game series ever, but Im always satisfied with each new entry.
And if you wanna talk milking, 2 GH/RB titles and 2 EA football games each year with few, if any, updates is more milking it in my opinion.
Oh yeah and check out that old post (the one i can't find right now) where they did actual research and deduced that the ages of the 3 main consoles main user base are.... (or there abouts)
360: 12-18
PS3: 18-24
Wii: 1-99 - fucking EVERYBODY
Oh yeah and STFU too.
lol
I love the Halo series. I'm 25. I'd have to estimate the the fan base for Halo players is from 12-21 because I encounter man college guys online in the evenings. They have fast connections and lots of bro-wannabe buddies to support their assholic behavior. But they're easy to agitate.
That doesn't speak well of the Halo series. In any case, I played ODST for two days and now I'm probably going to sell it. Halo needs some seriously new direction if they're going to keep it going. Otherwise, it's like this: Microsoft found this great horse in the street, and road it until it died, and then they all started kicking it, and it kept moving down the street so long as they kicked it, but it smelled worse and worse with every inch.
Time breeds stagnancy. Here's to fresh ideas and innovation.
Hating a game because of the age group that plays it? Jesus, what's wrong with people these days.
@ Article - Cool. I love the Halo universe, and there's a lot more they can do with it without "milking" the series. Bungie has done an excellent job with the games so far and I'm confident the future games will be of the same quality. Even an idiot can't deny the games are well designed and high quality.
If your fiance has a baby in her VAGINA, one of you two didn't do something right.

I didn't say it. But, boy is it hard to disagree with the guy.
Anyway.. babies don't sit in women's vaginas (little bit of trivia there for ya) and you're definitely trying to belittle Halo without actually sounding like you're belittling Halo. I hate Halo. But at least I have the balls (and apparently the sperm, I too have a son), to stand up and admit it without trying to cop out. It's not a child's game. It's just not a very compelling game.
That said, I really enjoy Halo, in all its incarnations. I own all the games, a few of the soundtracks and most of the books. I also love the Fallout series, the Half-Life series (all time favorite), the Diablo series, the Elder Scrolls series (played them all except Arena), the Burnout series, the C&C series (especially Red Alert), the Rock Band series, the Mario series, and anything made by PopCap just to name a few. I also look forward to when I have enough money saved up for a PS3 so I can finally try the Killzone series (though without backwards compatability I might have to skip the first) and the Uncharted series.
I just like games, and I especially like it when games I like expand their universes, because that just means I get to do more of what I like. As long as Halo stays good to me (read: good, not great), I'll stay happy.
Oh, and @ Robbo the Hood, I couldn't agree more. Split screen is my absolute favorite way to game. Always has been and always will.
As sad as I was to see solid snake go, he left at a high point and therefore I'll be filled with nothing but great memories of the guy.
I wasn't too impressed with halo 3 and ODST seems to be rubbing a few people the wrong way, so while I don't want halo to die but, its definitly time for it to take a vacation.
Master Chief = Jigsaw
Jigsaw: I died like 10 movies ago, but not really LOL. I'm still around for the money and the milking, just as long as these monkies (literally) can continue making scripts.
