No Gold sub, no problem. This is the mantra Microsoft will have for about three days as the publisher is set to open up the Halo: Reach beta to Xbox LIVE Silver members.

Starting on May 14 and stretching until May 17, all owners of Halo: ODST will be able to enjoy the Bungie's latest beta. Also during this period, Microsoft is slated to allow Silver people to rock out on ODST and Halo 3's multiplayer without paying their dues to the subscription-based service. What a bunch of nice dudes, those Microsoft higher-ups who decide these things.

A Halo game is headed to Steam next week, but it's Spartan Assault
