The Halo: Reach beta is next week! Bungie is gearing up for all they got cooking and starting tomorrow, actress Aisha Tyler will be giving Halo fans a walkthrough of all that they'll be experiencing in the beta through Halo 3: ODST.
The beta starts on May 3 and you'll have access to three playlists at first, which will be 4v4 ranked Team Slayer games, free-for-all and "Grab Bag" playlists. On May 7, the Spartan vs. Elite "Invasion" playlist will get thrown into the mix. Then on May 14, the "Generator Defense" game type will go online.
For those without Gold, don't worry, Bungie has a weekend set aside for you. From May 14 to May 17, Halo: Reach, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 3 will be free to play online all weekend long in the "Halo Multiplayer Unlock Weekend." Speaking of free, you'll also get a Halo: Reach Avatar hoodie for playing a full game of the Reach beta. Neato.

Halo 3's beta got extended sometime in the middle of it, it was intended to be about this long.
Also, if you can't wait four days to play a game type, I imagine you have other issues of patience. They're offsetting certain game types during the beta because, get this, it's a beta. It's not a retail game. Currently, Bungie is actually making a game for people to play, so I don't think it's appropriate that we demand anything of them for making the process of collecting data (which is what a beta is; this isn't a demo) easier and more effective.
I'll be there though I was disappointed with ODST... and Halo 3.. and Halo 2..

It'll need to have some compelling gameplay it risk losing they audience they share (which I'm guessing is substansial) to The Halo Beta.
I really hope Reach flavored fire fight is in the mix. Firefight with Elitrs sounds like win.

I have waited for this for a while, I'm more psyched for this beta than the Halo 3 one. 16 days is better than no days, IMO. Absolutely can't wait to try Invasion and use Armor Abilities, those are what I'm most excited for.
Also, I second that Hamza should be the only Dtoid editor to write Halo articles.
