Halo movie talk resurfaces: Like Hollywood was going to let that one go photo

With the Peter Jackson Halo movie project dead in the water thanks to money disputes, one could almost be forgiven for thinking that would be the end of it. Almost -- because it's naive to think that Hollywood would keep its stinking claws off of a popular videogame IP for long.

Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean) has apparently gotten movie people hot under the collar by penning a script based on Halo prequel novel Fall of Reach. It seems that the buzz is so thick that artist Kasra Farahani (Spiderman, Hancock) has taken the liberty of drawing up some concept art for the eventual pitch to Microsoft.

It's very obvious that the movie world wants a Halo film, but can everyone get on the right page for long enough to make it happen? Time, unlike the girl buried in your back yard, will tell.

Just like everything popular, it'll be shunned by "hardcore" gamers. Then it'll come out, they'll love it, then pretend to hate it after a month.

Of course Hollywood is not willing to let it go. They see dollar signs in their eyes. I think most gamers were pretty happy when we heard Peter Jackson was involved, but now that he has stepped away from the project I am a little fearful of this turning into crap like 90 percent of the other videogame translations out there.

No one loves you, garison.

That is all.

As much as I love Alex Garland, I think Fall of Reach would make a much more interesting movie. I just hope they can get the same level of talent behind this version.

Hollywood is straight up retarded for being pussies about backing this.

I don't think there's any way for someone to make a Halo movie that will please gamers and/or film goers.

It'll happen when some studio comes up with enough cash to pay Microsoft's hefty royalty fees.

Garison speaks in riddles. Comprehend, I do not.

Also, duh. It has to happen.

If they actually make it good, this movie could be worth any royalty fees a studio has to dish out. Step up, film industry. You already have this ticket sold.

UWE BOLL anyone?

if the movie is based of the novel, i think they will be able to pull off a decent movie. it is direct port from video games to movies is where they fail at.

i have confidence that this director and even the previous had the forsight not to port the game to a movie. i think the fact that they are "penning scripts" and making "concept art" is a good sign. rather than them just staring at the novel waiting for it to materialize into a movie. Thanx alot Stefen fucking Fangmeier (eragon movie)

Sooner or later a Halo film will be made. I dont see any way around that. The question is, will it be a good movie or a terrible movie?

we should probably kill uwe boll now. or cut off his arms. no arms, no directing.
