Does the book come with a group of people that scream "Fag" and "n00b" at you while you read it?
pft.. books are for hippies
I couldn't even finish that synopsis
The nylund books are fantastic, so everyone screw off, their good books.
"Their" good books?
No, I'm just kidding : )
Halo fans read? Do they have pictures?
While I won't take the douchey road like Kyousuke, I do think it's a little tired and insulting to keep painting Halo fans as idiots. "Go on Xbox Live, they're all illiterate assholes, five-year-olds, blah blah blah"... You can paint anyone and anything in broad strokes. Doesn't make it fair, doesn't make accurate. Most of the fans love the books, and most of the books are quite good.
I don't really consider myself much of a Halo fan anymore, but most of the Halo fans that I know personally are quite intelligent people.
Wait, sixth book? I wasn't aware of a fifth one. Did I miss something?
Also, what Scrixx said. Eric Nylund's entries in the series are pretty great.
@Dexter
Ya, the fifth one just came out a little while ago, Contact Harvest. It was written by one of Bungie's writters, and I haven't read it, so I have no clue how good it is.
Now, excuse me while I pound a smart person book against my head furiously as I try hopelessy to read it.
I heard it made the New York's Best Seller or whatever the list is called. I'm referring to Contact Harvest.
@KMCC
I was hoping that nobody would catch that. ;_;
Well, just because it's a best seller doesn't mean it's a good book, but maybe I'll check it out, since I've read the first four.
I know what the Cole
protocol is.
Also, I like the books. They do a much better job of explaining the Halo story/world than the games do.
Yes, Halo players do read.
I'm a literature snob and I find the Halo series to be incredible enjoyable.
Nylund's entries are particularly fun.
I stopped reading after First Strike and Ghosts of Onyx sucked.
Though, I heard Joesph's novel was actually pretty good. And I know he was a huge part of the Halo story, going in. I may change my mind with this one if Contact: Harvest is good. Library time.
i said it before and i'll say it again . what the fuck is halo?
these books are pretty good. nice to see some other spartans other than freaking master chief. i'm sick of people thinking that master chief is the last spartan and earth having a bat over master chief all the time. i mean, wtf there are other spartans you know.
eh! halo fans have their mommy read to them. not to be mistaken by actual sentience/intelligence.
Pfft, I don't read video game books........except Mass Effect.
@ hood_964
Easy there, hood. Don't let that nerd rage take over.
@ Sharpless
I am pretty fed up with people judging me because I like Halo. It's sickening when I'm trying to tell someone why I dislike a certain game and Halo gets brought up. They use it to delegitimize my opinion and I'd like it to stop.
Sadly, it's nice to want things. That's all you can do, especially when we're talking about gamers. Let's face it. The majority of them are stupid losers.
I'm fed up of people judging me because I like games.
i <3 the haloz, but that doesn't mean they can start making me read books. books are for idiots.
old.
The books aren't too bad; sturdy, old-fashioned military SF. Reminded me a little bit of "Ender's Game" in the early parts.
I love the books, and I love Halo. Specifically Halo 3. It's awesome, and all the Halo hate really is fucking annoying. Vexed Alex said it best.
the halo books are very very good. take a look at the eric nylund ones and you'll find a cohesive and very full story that will really satisfy everything you believe to be missing from the games.
I have to agree with Scrixx. Nylund is an amazing author and his Halo books are no exception.
