Halo Combat Evolved: Why make something new when we know you'll buy the same shit again if it looks a little better edition.
This is pretty ridiculous. The first Halo was a shitty game to begin with. The only reason it was successful is because it was the first really accessible FPS on the xbox. Everything about it made me angry, from the crappy guns to the extremely slow movement to the super generic characters. I guess if I hadn't already been playing FPS games on the PC like Quake 3 or Unreal Tourney it may have been a different experience, but it was an utter turdball of a game if you ask me.

The budget price makes it tempting, but there's part of me that refuses to buy a game that already works with backwards compatibility.
this is a must have for me. i hope there will be some unlockables like artwork, commentary etc.

you know when i saw this story my mind first went to "hey how long will it take before the first i hate halo its trash, i played PC shooters in the 90's i am so cool" comment would hit. [ this always happens with halo story's i find] i felt at least 10 comments first would happen. Thank you Heman for showing me once again not to trust in my fellow man.
I think remakes aren't just for people who played the original, but a good way to get people (younger people) who missed the previous generation to play the best from back them.

For me, that was the only time I actually picked it up and played, which pretty much guaranteed a purchase of GoW3!

I overplayed the hell out of the original, and I can't imagine paying more than $10 for this. Make it $5. With all that effort, you would think they could at least make another sequel with some different scenarios. I think Halo is a great game, but all this self-worship is pretty lame.
Microsoft is dping this kust because they want to release a halo game each year. Similar to Activision and Call of Duty. They want to keep a large revenue stream pouring in.
So far it looks like they are at least respecting the source material. I hate HATE HATE what they have done to the assault rifle. The old one was the only one that was ever effective at killing anything. And it sounded just grand.
Idk how much this game is going to be. But I'm not paying $60 for it. And maybe $40. But I guess we'll see with time.

now don't get me wrong I play a lot of other games too, but is it sad that I love the Halo series so much I will buy this? I too overplayed the shit outta the original but somehow HD graphics will make me do it again. Stupid Halo addiction. Someone get me a towel.

Campaign looks great, but god dammit, I want my orgional Halo multiplayer with live, not more maps with the reach engine. F the damn melee lunge, completely ruins the game. I hope we at least get classic set ups with vehicle maps though, meaning none of this tracking plasma and laser bullshit. Indestructible vehicles again?
I don't know why so many people are complaining about this. Most of the Halo community has said that their favorite Halo is the original. So, why not let those people re-live the experience and then some? Classic maps for Halo: Reach? Yes. Original campaign that is largely untouched. Yes.
Also, if they put the classic Halo: Combat Evolved multiplayer in it, that would just split the fan base. It only makes sense to keep supporting Halo: Reach in some way. And come on... would you really play the multiplayer for more than a month before moving back to Reach?

As a really hardcore Halo fan I'm buying this day one, actually I'm about to pre-order it.
I enjoyed countless hours playing Co-op campaign and MP matches on LAN and I'm sure it will be very similar when 'Anniversary' comes out.
However one the main reasons I'm getting it, is to receive a Halo 2 HD Edition down the line, and that one has the necessary net code, so the gameplay doesn't need to be changed.

Just some clarification, because the comments about 3-shot are misleading.
The pistol was never a 3-shot in campaign, on any difficulty. The damage was different between SP and MP for the pistol especially.
Also, why would you say 3 shots to the head, only the third shot has to be in the head, and all damage in halo is the same until the shields are down. A headshot and a toe-shot are exactly the same, until the shields are down. 2 to the to and 1 to the head is the same thing as 3 to the head.
