Halo 3 to be released on Sept. 25 photo

I just got a late-night message from Microsoft letting us know that Halo 3, the Xbox 360 gold mine, will be released on Sept. 25. After rumor and speculation, amongst closed circles mind you, that the game may be released early, we now have a final and solid release date. From the press release:

In a year when Hollywood is launching its biggest blockbusters ever, a video game is set to conquer them all. “Halo® 3,” the final chapter in the groundbreaking “Halo” trilogy, is set to shatter day-one entertainment sales records when it is released worldwide beginning Tuesday, Sept. 25. Created by legendary developer Bungie Studios and exclusive to the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system, “Halo 3” will set a new standard for interactive storytelling and social gaming by engaging consumers worldwide in Master Chief’s epic battle to save humankind. “Halo 3” will be available to audiences around the world starting Sept. 25 and will release in Europe on Sept. 26.

There you go. Mark your calendar and get ready to pwn.

Is that the first time they've refered to Halo as only being a trilogy?

Damn...I need to save up money for that collector's edition faster. Especially if it's only a month after Bioshock's special edition.

Should've released it on November 7th, then the release date would be 11-7 and I'd get a nerd boner.

Anyway, I'm fucked. I doubt I'll be able to snag a 360 by then.

It's an odd release date . . . I thought they would wait until closer to Christmas (as with GoW). Or is it becasuse of the competition from another sequel????

"exclusive to the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system"

This is totally going to come out for the PC as well. Of course, if it takes as long as Halo 2 has, maybe nobody will care.

Anyways, this is probably my most anticipated game period.

I could only afford one system last generation and it was a PS2. I never knew anyone with an Xbox, so thus far, Halo has always been out of my grasp. Now I'm armed with a 360, I can finally see what all the fuss is about.

I feel about Halo 3 the same way I felt about Matrix 3 and not Pirates 3.

Meh.

It's too bad you didn't really get Revolutions, then. Anyone know why the Crackdown linked Beta isn't DLing just yet?

Fucking Bungie. I'm really only up for the beta as a sneak peak to the new mechanics. I could care less about the multiplayer. I'm excited for Halo 3 to hear the end of the story. I mean, Halo 2 was one of those bullshit cliffhanger endings (if I wanted dubious, silly cliffhangers, I'd watch 24), and I really fear that Halo 3 is just going to attempt to jump the shark, as it were.

Shh.. actually that probably has something to do with certain game (MGS4 cough!) that was going to show up september 1. but then since someone (sony cough!) dropped the ball (SHOCKING!) and that certain title is now slated to 2008. Oh well.

Or maybe they just didnt wanted MS Fanboys riotting in the office until xmas after the 3 weeks of the beta are over.
