Halo 3 thief gets banned from Live until the year 9999 photo

Hilarity from the offices of Xbox Live, as the users who obtained an illegal copy of Halo 3 have been banned forever. Well, scratch that ... it's only until 12/31/9999. That's right, before the year 10,000, they can finally get back onto Live and jump right in on some Halo 3 deathmatch action. While it's fantastic that Microsoft went so far as to make such a ridiculous ban temporary, provided the rulebreakers are immortal, it gets better. So much better.

Imagine you just procured, quite illegally, a copy of Halo 3 before the release date.  Now, considering this is the biggest franchise the Xbox 360 has, and Microsoft is a company that does not mess around when it comes to monitoring its customers and punishing all who betray it, what would be the first thing you do? Would you, say, take it online for everybody in the whole bloody world to see how illegal you're being!? Apparently that's what these utter morons did.

The fools didn't even figure out what was wrong until one of them actually COMPLAINED about the banning, compounding the stupidiocy of the situation and bringing a whole new level of retarded to the table. While one of the main offenders claimed he isn't bothered about creating a new gamertag and having one of his four consoles banned, that won't stop him being one of the biggest imbeciles the gaming world has ever seen. Congratulations guys, you've just made a whole world of Downe's Syndrome sufferers feel about ten times smarter.

I don't think it was correctly mentioned in the article that the kid glitched in to the Epsilon Build of the game, which only had 1 single player level, forge, and a few multiplayer maps. No one has been able to get the full final copy. Sterling, I think you should edit the article to be more clear on this. Thanks.

Also, the kid had to get the Epsilon build online since it was only available for download through the marketplace, so getting caught was inevitable.

Was there a cool, sexy Ocean's 11-esque heist to capture the Halo 3, or did some douche just click a torrent?

Epic fail if there's no elaborate scheme involved.

Yes what these guys did was stupid and a banable offense. However, after reading all the shit on other blogs accesible with the banned forever hyperlink they could not play the game without going online. Also they got some screen shots and a minor review of some of the gear/maps. Good read if you like Halo.(but I've been a PC/handheld snob until I got a Wii(with hardly any games)so I never got into Halo)

Also Cocks

Just set up another account. It's quite easy to come up with a fake address and you get a month of live for free. Having it on your account is just for bragging rights. As for me, i just want to play the damn game.

Ha, what idiots. So theres some MS employee doing some checking and maintainance on a Halo3 server in the important lead up to main-stream release ... and up pops some fuckwit(s) "teh Halorz!11one!" fanboys on the server. Hardly snooping. *Bing* server currently has 3 players active. Hmm the game isnt out yet, lets find out which accounts these are.

@ Redzie, the console got banned, not the account.

Deserved its like a Virtual Darwin Awards.
