Halo 3: ODST has been finished since May photo

In the latest episode of Bonus Round over on GameTrailers, Brian Jarrard of Bungie revealed that Halo 3: ODST has been completed since May. It could have been released at any point now, but it’s been held back in order for Microsoft to promote the game and in preparation to rape your coffers this holiday season.

Yet, doesn't it feel like the promotions started off late? The Halo 3: ODST truck started touring the country a couple of weeks ago and the amazing new new ad rolled out two weeks ago during PAX. It just seems a bit out considering Halo 3 was promoted like crazy for months before the game was released.

Speaking of Halo 3: ODST, look for our review on the game this Saturday.

Don't movies occasionally do this sorta thing too?

Looking forward to playing an extremely polished product then. Nothing wrong with taking months to work out every kink in the game, now is there?

Damn, that is one LONG promotion time.

It's not like they really needed the extra promotion time. With over 8million copies of halo 3 bought and over a billion matches of halo 3 played on LIVE, it's pretty much a sure thing that this game will sell well. I bet more than anything, they pushed its release to the fall because of how empty the holiday schedule is looking this year compared to last.

MS wants a "huge" release every Holiday for the mutliplayer shooter crows... Perfect Dark (hah), then Gears, then Halo 3, then Gears 2, now Halo ODST.

Makes sense... sell units and all that.

Personally I think this game looks really lame, though.

This is refreshing to hear. I'm so used to games being barely finished in time for release. Let's hope that there aren't too many embarrassing bugs and glitches in the final release.

Goodness knows how choked the pipelines are with new games in the summer, hey?

i guess bungie is more interested in selling this to 12 year old kids parents than to me. this game will probably be so overshadowed by the titles i am looking forward to that there's pretty much no chance of a buy here.

@psycho terror2

So your parents are buying it for you?

Oh, I'm anxious for the review. I'm buying it regardless, but I'd love to hear how the campaign/story really is. They really could've released it this summer...since there weren't that many good games released...but whatever. I trust Bungie's judgment, and hopefully we'll be seeing a better quality product now than we would've in May.

They just wanted the extra time to play the game before the eventual influx of the douchebag population.

I don't understand why a company has to hold a game until the holidays. I would think that releasing it during a downtime would be good for it since it would basically be the only thing to talk about or buy. No real competition or anything. Oh well, I'll probably buy it anyway for firefight.

At least they finished making the game and are releasing it. How are "Duke Nukem Forever" and "Tiberium" coming along?

Like it or not, Fanboyism sells games. If ODST VS MW2 VS AC2 fights will sell more copies than spreading them out.
