Three new multiplayer maps will be available for Halo 3 on December 11. The map pack is called the Heroic Map Pack and will go for 800 Points.
Two of the maps sound really interesting. The on called Rat's Nest is badly needed as there isn't enough Big Team Battle maps (I love that mode). The map called Foundry, though, seems to be the winner here. Foundry is meant to be completely shaped by the player using Forge. With this map, you can add stairs, walls, bridges and tunnels anyway you want to. The possibilities sound endless.
Just like in past Halo map releases, the Heroic Map Pack will be made free in Spring of 2008 right before the new maps are released. So who here is going to buy them right away and who's going to wait until next year for them to be free?
[Update: Bungie has a few screens of the new maps and interview with the map designer over on their site.]
"Halo 3" Evolves as Heroic Map Pack Explodes onto Marketplace in
December
Attention Spartans!
The internationally award-winning "Halo 3" multiplayer experience is
about to get even better. After launching to incredible acclaim and
fanaticism, "Halo 3" players will be able to enjoy three all new
multiplayer maps on Dec. 11 as part of the Heroic Map Pack, the first in
a series of downloadable content from Bungie Studios to come via Xbox
LIVE.
Available for 800 Microsoft Points exclusively on Xbox LIVE
Marketplace, each map presents a totally different play style.
Standoff's symmetrical valley, with its entrenched bases and fields of
boulders is ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types, while
Rat's Nest's vast, labyrinthine passages bring something new to the
"Halo" multiplayer experience: an indoor vehicle paradise, strongly
influenced by the Campaign mode, ideal for big team battles. Finally,
Foundry is the ultimate Forge map - players can edit every single object
in this voluminous industrial warehouse, place stairways, walls, bridges
and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any
kind of map they can think of.
All three maps will become available for free download via Xbox LIVE
Marketplace in Spring 2008, just prior to the next wave of all new "Halo
3" multiplayer maps.
As if the legions of "Halo 3" players needed more reasons to stay logged
on and fragging, the Forge also allows players to edit and customize all
three maps, keeping "Halo 3's" multiplayer experience fresh, exciting
and evolving. In addition, ongoing updates to "Halo 3's" matchmaking
playlists ensure that ranked and social gameplay remains dynamic and
competitive.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

booyah!
Foundry and Rat's Nest are my top 2 as well Hamza. I can't wait to fully customize my own map and play some infection in tunnels.
Also, 800 POINTS IS WAY TOO FUCKING MUCH. Instabuying = fail.
Stop posting that link to Vegas's blog. Its not like CTZ saw that cblog and was like "o look juicy news to steal"
</rant>
I will be waiting for the new maps, as I dont want to shill out 10 bucks for them
Also, 800 POINTS IS WAY TOO FUCKING MUCH. Instabuying = fail.
more great maps like sandtrap and narrows YOU PACK OF FUCKING MONEYGRABBING CUNTS.
Yea, I was waiting for someone to do it without getting involved myself. Sadly, people assume if they read it then so has everyone else.
I guess it's true what they say, the internets is serious business.
So how will we play these maps anyway? The horrid matchmaking system doesn't let you pick where you wanna play after all.
Anyways, I won't be buying them. I'm glad that they're getting out more maps so soon, but I can wait until they're free.
This was posted on the Bungie and Major Nelson site. The post on the community blog wasn't the first one to break the news, so shut to fuck up.
@ Kyousuke Nanbu
You get friends and you invite them to custom games.
P.S.
Anime is gay.
Rat's Nest looks awesome. Big Team Battle FTW! Hamza CTZ Aziz, you just got more cool points for liking that game type.
Though I would still like to see some of the better maps from Halo 1-2 moved over to 3.
Also, there are at least eight people in these comments that fucking fail, and four of them are Yashoki.
press releases mean nothing if some one already beat you to the scoop ;) with pictures also!
They're or they are nothing totally important. Not their, Pedro. And I'm curious as to why you'd get a press release. What do you do?
I think, Pedro, that you're missing the point. This isn't the community blogs. This is the front page of Destructoid. This was written by someone who works for Destructoid. Go up a few comments and click on the link that goes to Jim Sterling's blog. Read it.
Honestly, I don't believe any company would release information to someone who does this shit.
In closing, you're fucking stupid.
all im saying that CTZ's comment
"Hey Yashoki, you know we get things called Press Releases right? And that companies send us stuff all the time for us to put up as a news item?"
means nothing.
So, therefor you fail, and you're right that you're going to piss people off because you're wrong. You're wrong and if you keep talking about it it'll start to get annoying.
I've never bought microsoft points before, so I don't know how much 800 is but it's more than I have. I'll have to ask my family for some MS points in my stocking :)
I haven't spent too much time doing Forge, but I don't remember having walls and stairs in it. Will these be available for the other maps in Forge too, or just Foundry. (or are they available and I'm just retarded...if so sorry.)
