Halo 3 getting three new maps on December 11 photo

Three new multiplayer maps will be available for Halo 3 on December 11. The map pack is called the Heroic Map Pack and will go for 800 Points.

Two of the maps sound really interesting. The on called Rat's Nest is badly needed as there isn't enough Big Team Battle maps (I love that mode). The map called Foundry, though, seems to be the winner here. Foundry is meant to be completely shaped by the player using Forge. With this map, you can add stairs, walls, bridges and tunnels anyway you want to. The possibilities sound endless.

Just like in past Halo map releases, the Heroic Map Pack will be made free in Spring of 2008 right before the new maps are released. So who here is going to buy them right away and who's going to wait until next year for them to be free?

[Update: Bungie has a few screens of the new maps and interview with the map designer over on their site.]

"Halo 3" Evolves as Heroic Map Pack Explodes onto Marketplace in
December

Attention Spartans!

The internationally award-winning "Halo 3" multiplayer experience is
about to get even better. After launching to incredible acclaim and
fanaticism, "Halo 3" players will be able to enjoy three all new
multiplayer maps on Dec. 11 as part of the Heroic Map Pack, the first in
a series of downloadable content from Bungie Studios to come via Xbox
LIVE.

Available for 800 Microsoft Points exclusively on Xbox LIVE
Marketplace, each map presents a totally different play style.
Standoff's symmetrical valley, with its entrenched bases and fields of
boulders is ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types, while
Rat's Nest's vast, labyrinthine passages bring something new to the
"Halo" multiplayer experience: an indoor vehicle paradise, strongly
influenced by the Campaign mode, ideal for big team battles. Finally,
Foundry is the ultimate Forge map - players can edit every single object
in this voluminous industrial warehouse, place stairways, walls, bridges
and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any
kind of map they can think of.

All three maps will become available for free download via Xbox LIVE
Marketplace in Spring 2008, just prior to the next wave of all new "Halo
3" multiplayer maps.

As if the legions of "Halo 3" players needed more reasons to stay logged
on and fragging, the Forge also allows players to edit and customize all
three maps, keeping "Halo 3's" multiplayer experience fresh, exciting
and evolving. In addition, ongoing updates to "Halo 3's" matchmaking
playlists ensure that ranked and social gameplay remains dynamic and
competitive.

Foundry and Rat's Nest are my top 2 as well Hamza. I can't wait to fully customize my own map and play some infection in tunnels.

Cant believe people are still bitching about c blogs getting it first. The first one to link to sterlings c-blog on how to not be a douchenozzle about main page stories gets a point.

Vegas: doesn't matter, you should be treated as a tipster. You had this up way earlier.

Also, 800 POINTS IS WAY TOO FUCKING MUCH. Instabuying = fail.

Yea, I was waiting for someone to do it without getting involved myself. Sadly, people assume if they read it then so has everyone else.

I guess it's true what they say, the internets is serious business.

I already got rid of mine so I don't really care.

So how will we play these maps anyway? The horrid matchmaking system doesn't let you pick where you wanna play after all.

Haha, all the commenters ignored Sterling's post.

Anyways, I won't be buying them. I'm glad that they're getting out more maps so soon, but I can wait until they're free.

I can see none of you retards read Jim Sterling's blog about the differences between community blogs and front page blogs.\

This was posted on the Bungie and Major Nelson site. The post on the community blog wasn't the first one to break the news, so shut to fuck up.

@ Kyousuke Nanbu
You get friends and you invite them to custom games.

P.S.
Anime is gay.

And yes I'll buy them because I've played all that I can from Call of Duty 4. I feel like Halo 3 has more variety with it's multi-player and these maps will add to that. Plus, I believe that quality deserves my money and I know these maps are going to be quality.

Rat's Nest looks awesome. Big Team Battle FTW! Hamza CTZ Aziz, you just got more cool points for liking that game type.

I'm not going to take Jim's post into account because that doesn't mean hamza cant put a "hey thanks for the clog post Vegas". And if you ask me. As "disrespectful" as it sounds I liked Vegas' post better. It had pictures. Thats right, I went there.

Anyway, who would shell out the extra bucks for these maps? We already have to pay 60 for the standard, then again if you get bored with those maps, its understandable in a way.

Too few maps for too many dollars. And I'm only really excited about Standoff... maybe Rat's Nest. I would've paid between $5 and $7, but $10 pushes it. Come on, Bungie and MS. Give us a break.

Also, there are at least eight people in these comments that fucking fail, and four of them are Yashoki.

@ Pedro Blandino

They're or they are nothing totally important. Not their, Pedro. And I'm curious as to why you'd get a press release. What do you do?

I think, Pedro, that you're missing the point. This isn't the community blogs. This is the front page of Destructoid. This was written by someone who works for Destructoid. Go up a few comments and click on the link that goes to Jim Sterling's blog. Read it.

Honestly, I don't believe any company would release information to someone who does this shit.

In closing, you're fucking stupid.

400 points I would have definitely bought it. 600 points is pushing it but I would have considered. 800 points is just ridiculous for three maps, unless they are the best three maps of all time.

I'm going to drop this since if I speak more about this, I know I'm only going to piss off people.

all im saying that CTZ's comment
"Hey Yashoki, you know we get things called Press Releases right? And that companies send us stuff all the time for us to put up as a news item?"

means nothing.

Actually, it means everything. It means that he got his news from a company, as apposed to the community blogs.

So, therefor you fail, and you're right that you're going to piss people off because you're wrong. You're wrong and if you keep talking about it it'll start to get annoying.

Pedro, everybody else: Fucking drop it. No one gives a shit who breaks a story first and, if you do care, then you're an idiot. As long I read the news somewhere, I couldn't care less. And the front page is more important than the C-Blogs. After all, I read the front page; I skim the C-Blogs. Stop being tools and just forget about it, y'all.

800 points for 2 maps would have been way too much - but for 3? ...damn you M$. doesn't hurt that i play Halo every night... though i'll have to see if they incorporate these maps into the matchmaking (or if you can just use them for custom games) - if not, THEN i might not buy.

I agree with Kyousuke Nanbu , except for the whole trading his in bit. I hate the fact that you can't search for maps that you want to play, I'm sick of playing the same 3 maps on rotation in whatever game type I chose.

I've never bought microsoft points before, so I don't know how much 800 is but it's more than I have. I'll have to ask my family for some MS points in my stocking :)

I haven't spent too much time doing Forge, but I don't remember having walls and stairs in it. Will these be available for the other maps in Forge too, or just Foundry. (or are they available and I'm just retarded...if so sorry.)
