Halo 3 already sold OVER NINE THOUSAAAAND (and over a million, too, actually) photo

In this rather nifty write-up on the Halo 3 phenomenon, and one can indeed call it that, we learn that the second sequel in Microsoft's crown jewel has already shifted over a million copies before its release date of September 25th. The videogame, set in a future where frat boys rule the Internet and the word "fag" has become a universal greeting is, quite literally, huge. Huger perhaps than we 'hardcore' gamers, who care less for the mainstream with our smug veneer and obscure chateaux l'something wine, might wish to admit.

The article does a good job of showing how big of a deal Halo 3 is. Microsoft is going to be pumping millions into the promotion of this title and you can expect to see Master Chief's helmet everywhere as we enter the fall -- on drinks cans, on your french fries, and of course on your television screens. I can't imagine there will be anything less than a merchandising explosion, and Pepsi has recently struck a large promotional deal with The 'Soft. Whether you game or not, you will likely know the name Halo before the year is out.

Go read the article, absorb the hugeness of Halo 3 and then ask yourself -- why are videogames still treated like a lesser form of entertainment? It quite literally does not make sense when you see the launch of a game treated like the next blockbuster hit movie.

halo will always deliver. Bungie are freaking sculptors of digital ownery. I just hate the hype, it kinda cheapifies things in my mind, but the game will be top shelf no matter.

haters, go play with your plums.

All the halo haters need to get over themselves a bit. I agree its your opinion, but the sheer volume of halo hate on every post is amazing. Halo is a well constructed fps with tight controls, immersive, and entertaining in both co op and multiplayer. Is it the best game ever? No way. But its definitely better than the majority of shit out there, including all these "innovative" titles which get praised regardless of how inane and menial they are.

If the Wii could churn something out as remotely interesting as Halo that wasn't a port, I would buy one of those too.

On one hand, theres all this bitching about how gamers are stereotyped and don't get the respect of other art forms, then you read posts about how all Halo players are teenage virgins with homophobic and racist tendencies.

You guys are perpetuating your own stereotypes.

Man, Halo is so damned overrated! I was never impressed with that shit and had to play it for hours at my friends house. In my opinion Halo is for video games what Denny's is for video games!

I'm a pc gamer for a console Halo is good.

But it nothing compared to Halflife or F.E.A.R or even Stalker.

I played halo for the PC even there it is just not as good. It is a ripoff of a much earlier game called Starsiege tribes. Hell doom 3 is better than Halo. Especially unforgivable was Microsoft not allowing gamers from the PC's to use Keyboard and mouse on their 360's. Anyone that has ever tried to play a First Person Shooter from just a keyboard or a controller knows how infeiror the play style is once they get used to keyboard and mouse.
