While Hallmark is a giant, soulless, holiday creating corporation there are sometimes benefits to their existence. For instance their ornament selection is vast. If you're interested in it you can pretty much get it in ornament form from Hallmark; that includes retro gaming. This year Hallmark has introduced a Galaga arcade cabinet ornament for your Christmas tree decorating enjoyment.
It doesn't just hang, though. This thing is a fully interactive ornament that plays the new game theme from Galaga and makes the bleeps and bloops -- as tipster Michael B. described them -- from the exploding of alien ships. Plus, there are lights! You can actually check out video and sound of it over at the Hallmark site. It's a little pricey at $18.50 (I think, I don't actually know the going price for ornaments), but if your tree needs more gaming love then this is a good way to go, unless you've already bought the Blue Shell ornament or something from our Christmas Gift Guide.
See, there's an upside to the millions of dollars companies like Hallmark have.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

Hammer don't hurt em.
Wish there was 1 central web site documenting the art that was on the sides and front of the old arcade boxes. The pinball machines as well for that matter.
Some was great.
Galaga looks like it would be a good candidate for a (deviant art) 3d hard candy CGI treatment.
