Half-Life turns 10 today, Valve offering it up on Steam for 98 cents photo

The headline pretty much says it all. Today, Valve's highly-acclaimed PC shooter Half-Life turns 10-years-old. And with that, I can hear my bones creaking.

But the important stuff -- Half-Life is available on Steam starting now for only 98 cents. It anniversary pricing will only be available until 12:01 pm PST on November 21, so go get her while she's hot. And cheap. The way you like it. You naughty thing, you.

It's the 00s.

He doesn't wear glasses anymore. He wears super-advanced nanomachine-powered contact glasses. He also shorted his name from Gordon to Gor because it's so edgy!!!!! Either that or the glasses fell off. Whatever!

Good. Most gamers are stupid, obnoxious, they don't shower, and they lack social lives.

I bought it and bought a copy for each of my (IRL) friends.

Ahh, such a good thing, Steam.

These deals get me all the time.

Those are just the "hard (gears of halo - resistance) core" console crowd. Oh, and MMO gamers.

That picture is amazing. And it's really sad to admit this, but Ben Affleck would actually make a really good-looking Gordon Freeman. In fact, he might even be able to portray him well, I'm ashamed to say. But after Daredevil, do I really want to risk it?

Well, I don't like FPSing on PCs, but it's criminal not to buy a brilliant, legendary game like this when it's only a dollar.

No, it's pretty much the Final Fantasy cosplay crowd that stinks up the place. I've heard enough PAX and E3 horror stories, thank you.

Gears of War/CoD4/Halo fans are (mostly) too douchy to not shower. They need to smell good. Stink wouldn't match their Hollister shirts.

This is totally worth it just for the endless amounts of quality mods for it. If I hadn't owned half-life since it came out I would jump on this.

Getting the PC and PS2 versions in one day? I'm fine with this.

Opposing Force, the military expansion for Half-Life, is one of the most impressive expansions for any game. The plot development that occurs in the expansion is almost required for anyone who played the game itself all the way through. The ending, in particular, actually surpasses the ending of the original (which many people would argue is not hard to do, given their hatred for the third act, but still).

Man, I loved this game. Back when it was on a 3 1/2" floppy. And called Doom.

Valve's always made quality products that are highly polished, but I've never really had *fun* with anything of theirs except Portal and Episode 2 up until the end.

In any case, happy birthday to a gaming icon.
