Something is wrong when a trailer for a machinima film is more exciting than that of a "real" movie. Or maybe, something is so very right. This trailer for a Half Life 2 machinima film, Shadows of the Dead, hits the spot on many levels. Zombies, solid editing, intense music ... an extremely hokey voice over. Okay, I'll let that slide. The trailer is a finalist in Liongate's The Condemned (the movie starring "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, not game) machinima contest, and was produced by the folks over at Mighty Crane Films. [Thanks to the 83 people who flooded our tips mail box with this one!]

I'm an idiot!
It was alright. Better or more amping than a "Live" movie?... Might be a bit of an overstatement as far as my own opinion is concerned. But whatever works out for yas, Nick =)
very good ^_^
Yeah..g.ranted 28 Weeks Later looks decent (I am upset about the whole zombies when they aren't really) but that video wasn't better than 28 Weeks Later
HOT DAMN
I love machinima
Looked really good. Wouldn't say looks better tan 28 weeks later though, I'm so hyped for that movie it's not even funny.
You gotta love mighty crane. The keep it real.
Looks amazing
Damn it, melted ice cream looks better than 28 Weeks Later!
Mighty Crane has pulled some pretty amazing work out of their hats in the past. They certainly know their way around the Source engine.
That being said, I could've done without the "IN A WORLD! WHERE THE LINE! BETWEEN! GOOD AND..." Little too Pablo Francisco for me.
Regardless, best of luck, Mighty Crane! Rock that Gmod!
/HL2 fanboyism
Just watched the trailer for 28 weeks later. It didn't look terrible, but it seemed way too americanised. Stop ruining other countries' films, you fockers!
The machanima was also pretty good. It was probably a joke, but it's still always annoying when a trailer starts off with "in a world...", and that voiceover was terrible. Also, didn't care at all for the radio broadcast voice. I don't think it would have hurt them to have more than one animation for zombies walking either. But it was well edited, and enjoyable to watch.

is this an upcoming mod or something like that? This is very cool shit indeed. 28 weeks later is not about zombie folk but rabid folk
But if the director is from Spain, as are a good couple of the writers... Is it really Americanized? Or is Spain ruining Europes Films while people blame Americans? Oh, such thinking will give me a headache indeed.
sic!
-> Dennen: A person doesn't have to be american to americanise something. Britain has few enough successful films, and I don't like how 28 days later's sequel seems to have largely yank cast. I'm not even british myself, just a fan of good cinema.
But anyway, that was just a joke. Holding all americans personally responsible for abominations like the ring is not exactly a rational thing to do. The problem is global and essentially comes down to how much the popularity of anything is driven by said thing's marketing.
If I actually come to recall... 3 of the writers *one is the director* are from Spain... The last is from the UK... The only reason why it has become "Americanized" is because those writing chose to write it in... Damn this blind hatred! Can't we all just get along?
I figured it was Hollywoods "I don't care if the movie sucks - give it a sequel so I can have more money" attitude about things like this =(
The narrator sounds like Dee Snyder.
