Valve has released a motherload of media today for both games bundled in its upcoming Half-Life 2 episode 2: Black Box. While the adventures of Gordon are always great, the screenshots of most interest to me were from the bundled game Team Fortress 2; shown in the gallery below. True to the concept art and trailer revealed last year, this game looks like a cross between an FPS and a Roger Rabbit cartoon (or Pixar for you chilluns). Words cannot express what a refreshing approach this is, as I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I have a stack of realistic Army sims collecting dust on the shelf. I'm giddy, even.

The previews illustrate a glimpse of each character's special abilities as you pan through the screens, such as the spy's cloaking effect. The original Team Fortress consumed a greater part of my early adulthood and I look forward to surrendering another chunk of it shortly as soon as this hits.

These are all trailer stills, mind you.

No matter. The more press releases, the more I look forward to it.

Portal blows my mind.

God... I'm such a loser... the only thing I can think of when I look at it is the math involved...

Great... As if Halo, GOW, Crackdown, Guitar Hero, UT3, and HL2/Portal weren't sucking up all my time. Now this is going to come along.

I don't need to be tempted with guys wielding baseball bats going up against army soldiers. That's just mean to do that to me...

Now I have to go find someplace that sells catheters and get a job that lets me work/veg at home so I can just get through all these damn games.

Thanks Valve.

tf2 looks great, it's about time for a fps with some out of the ordinary style (i know there was xiii, but who else).

it would be perfect, but very unlikley, if the multiplayer would work across platforms

The only online game I ever got somewhat addicted to was the original TF back in highschool. I remember dreaming of a revamped version one day, this totally exceeds my expectations (from what I can tell just based off of screenshots at least). I'm glad Valve decided to put some style into it. It looks great, can't wait. Portal is also looking fantastic too, overall this is going to be a awesome little bundle.

As long as this game has just as much bunnyhopping, rocketjumping, scripting, and spamming as the original, Ill love it :)

Day one purchase, but where did that killer depth of field effect on the portal gun go?

I remember drooling over the TF2 shots back when it was using the HF1 engine. The new style looks great. And I'm totally hot for Portal, both for the gameplay AND the OMM connection.

yes, yes, yes! been anticipating this for a looonnnngggg time (remember this was supposed to be released with source, and i think it was initially slated even before that). but why is it NO ONE seems to have played the original? and like caffeine said, i want all the old tricks. i spent wayyyy too much time timing the conc jump + friendly snipe on 2fort4 to clear it to have them pull it outta the new one!

but fuck, for solid team play, nothing comes close to tf. some try, and some force you, but none just work so damn well.
