Half a dozen Lost in Shadow screenshot unveiled photo

A word like "unveiled" gives an air of drama that probably should not be used to describe the release of screenshots. If I go back and change the headline now, I'll have to spend another twenty minutes trying to find a way to reference the light and shadow elements in Lost in Shadow without completely sacrificing my dignity.

Since nobody wants that, how about we instead take some of that time and admire these lovely screenshots for Lost in Shadow which Hudson has released.

Mild curiosity is all I can really muster right now. It's visually interesting but I'm not sure that I really want to play it. I think LIMBO really soured me on oppressive visual designs. Has anybody played an import of Lost in Shadow? Any thoughts?

This reminds me of ico. I hated ico, but I still feel optimistic about this game.

I think it looks pretty interesting. How anyone can hate ico is beyond me.

WiiWare has games that are 10x prettier than this blurry mess they wanna launch in retail. The concept is interesting though so hopefully the gameplay delivers.

A retail release spells doom for this. No Mom is going to look at the box and buy this over a mini-game collection, and I doubt they'll advertise it at all.

@Kree
People who aren't any good at puzzles/thinking out of the box probably think it's impossible.

I played an import version and i think it's one of the best games i've ever played in my life. It's really amazing. The puzzles are fun and creative without being to hard and boring, the graphics are quite nice in motion, the sound is really good and the history is quite compelling, even if it's a little opressive and sad at some moments.

I'd say: Give it a try. It's really good.

This reminds me of Ico. I loved Ico, so I feel really optimisitic about this game.

Looking pretty sweet. In Australia, I believe it's titled "A Shadow's Tale".

I'm also playing the import right now, and the game is gorgeous. The visuals are indeed heavily influenced by Ico, there's really nothing "oppressive" about them. Plus it features some of the most intelligent level design I've ever seen in a 2D platformer. Arguably one of THE must-have Wii titles of this year.

@Oopsacalypse
How long have you been playing? How's the difficulty?

Wow, that's a strong endorsement. I've been looking forward to the game since it was announced, but the full-retail price point has deterred me a bit. Hopefully it comes out bargain-priced...

I'm looking forward to playing Lost in Shadow.

It's a shame that this game is destined to bomb. A) niche third-party title from a small time developer with a pretty bad track record B) little marketing effort C) comes out after the holiday season d) its on Wii.

I think we're looking at another potential hidden gem in the Wii's game library.

I bet retailers are going to drop the price fast probably down to $29 or $19 in no time.

2D home console games are dead on arrival at retail unless it starts with the name, Super Mario.

I've been playing for 8 hours or so. The puzzles are clever, but far from brutal (*cough* Limbo *cough*), yet there's also some combat. However, I'm playing on "Normal" difficulty and it hasn't given me much of a hard time so far.

Why is everyone having such a hard time with Limbo? And what was oppressive about the visuals? I found all the secrets and completed the game in 2 hours without any guides. Some of the logic was a little jarring at first but overall the game got a lot easier as it progressed. Still thought it was awesome though!

That being said, this also looks like something i'll pick up when it comes out.

Oh, look, saw blades in a art-based platformer. Never seen that before.

@Conrad Zimmerman

Just out of curiosity what was it about Limbo that you disliked?

I've only played the demo so far and found it quite enjoyable and was considering getting the game. Though admittedly I would probably wait for it to hit the 800ms points mark. I'm spoiled by the steam sales :)

@ParticleSt0rm: Limbo is a game with some great moments and clever puzzles, but it all felt a bit pointless to me. I was performing tasks which I normally find to be very enjoyable, but the mood of the game managed to suck any and all joy out of the experience.

It's one of those games which, while I totally understand why other people enjoy it, I can't get behind.
