Gym charging $110 an hour to play the Wii photo

Newsday is reporting that Gravity gym in Manhattan has developed a new “training session” that integrates playing the Wii as well as real, physical work. Of course, just like most things at the gym, the session is priced at a very affordable 110 dollars an hour. Mark Natale, Gravity’s executive director, said that he “think[s] of this as just another tool at the gym.”

I’m fairly familiar with the tools at the gym, but I can’t think of anything off the top of my head that resembles a Wii remote. Perhaps a curl bar if it lacked weight and iron. For the price, you would hope that the Wii could provide some sort of calorie burning stuff, but according what we posted previously, you may as well go outside and do the real stuff.

Gravity doesn’t make mention of what games it has its trainers running people through. One could only hope it isn’t Carnival Games or Battle of the Bands. While I admit that it would be interesting to see, I have a hard time believing that this is anything more substantial than a bullet point on an advertisement.

Regardless, what do you guys think the Wii could bring to a training regimen?

So we have the choice of working out for 3 hours or buying a Wii and Wii Fit and doing the same thing for unlimited hours. Why would anyone sign up for that gym?

So, somebody could either pay for two hours with Wii Fit at their gym, or just buy a damn Wii themselves?

this reminds me of when i joined a gym and they had "video games" , which in reality was a bike hooked up some tilting mechanism and you had different games like a tank battle and keep away...

it was pretty damn fun, thinking back now.... and free

Damn, people are stupid. The gym's probably going to make some good money off of this "great deal" too.

Fat kid #1: "Why are going in a gym again?"
Fat kid #2: "They have a Wii!"

As they pass the doors into a dark room.
Fat kid #3: "I don't know guys, this doesn't look right..."

Several gym instructors show up from the shadows.
Gym Inst #1: "GET THEM!"

In conclusion:

so for the price of roughly 3 sessions you could buy a wii, buy wii fit and do this for as long as you want in the privacy of your own living room?

Whoever falls into this needs a new brain.

As part of some aerobics regiment maybe. But then again just take a damn aerobics class, maybe cheaper. But I'm sure rtards with too much money will jump at this because it will be the new "hip" thing to do.

How much was their training session before the Wii was incorporated into it? The small article seems misleading. But at this price I would expect a personal trainer, and hell, real exercising instead of fake boxing

I haven't tried Wii Fit, and I don't see it as a substitute to working out at the gym a few times a week, but I could see it as a good supplementary tool. The yoga stuff looks interesting to me and I could see it helping general tone.

However, none of that is worth $110 an hour. That's more than the game itself!

If you are that stupid, you might be better off buying a gun so long as you use it on yourself.

Maybe it's with an aerobics instructor and a Wii Fit per person as oppose to those step exercise equipment. That would then require a screen, Wii Fit, Wii system, etc. per person. Still pretty expensive for a mere hour and a little overkill for an aerobics session.
