Guys aren't saying that they like casual games, but they do photo

A report by industry group Casual Games Association says that males tend to like casual games as much as females do, but aren't fessing up as much. Maybe the games have to have guns or footballs in them to be mentionable?

"Everyone always thought that casual games were something that only appeal to women," Jessica Tams, managing director of the association, said in an interview. "We have always been obsessed about making games for women."

The only real difference is that women are more likely to buy these games. Of the people surveyed, about three-fourths of those who bought casual games were women, though men were just as likely to play them.

"It was really shocking for everybody. We knew these guys were playing these games," Tams said. "But the hardcore gamer who is playing Halo with his buddies isn't going to brag that he just beat the next level of Zuma."

These numbers are surprising, though they don't seem to compare to the slice of the gamer demographic I regularly interact with. I know I'd just as easily pick up Puzzle Fighter or Puyo Puyo as I would Halo or Half-Life.

What about you, guys? Are you a closet Bejeweled fan? And the ladies? I know some gals that won't bother with casual games at all - do you dislike being grouped into this category?

Actually, I LOVE me some casual games. Bookworm Adventures, Puzzle Quest, Everyday Shooter and Flow would be excellent examples of this.

I have a penis and I love casual games. Peggle, Zuma, Bejeweled, Meteos, Planet Puzzle League. I really dig Puzzle Quest too, but I'm not sure I would consider that a casual game.

I'm not a big fan of the classic casual games. My mum is obsessed with various "match three of blah and win" games. Myself I tend to play non-casual games in a casual manner. Ten minutes of Rise of Legends here, ten of RE4 there...

I can't understand why most men (Me am also Man) would not be man enough to say "hey, I like to play zuma!".

Because most of the guys i work with like to relax with a casual game before the night is over.

I like to play a round of Hexic before i turn off the PC for the night.

To me, casual games give me a chance to unwind and not think about the game i'm playing and just play, UNO is especially good for trying to just relax. Casual games in the game industry are like a good chill DJ at the end of a long rave, they give you a chance to do just that, chill.

I love casual games. This report fails. We play video games. There is no pretense of cool going on here, guys.

When I like a game it doesn't matter if it's described with an arbitrary "casual" or "hardcore".

I'm actually not that into casual games. A little here and there, but not to the extent that I've seen some people talk about them.
