Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

In the video above, you’ll observe one of the more epic maneuvers ever conducted in a videogame. A gamer by the handle of Jed05 has used the nifty LittleBigPlanet level creator to avoid that whole “on your knee presenting a ring” thing. As you can see, he decided to pop the big question through cuter, non-invasive means.

If you’re wondering about motivation, Jed05 is willing to supply. Slashgamer picked up this nice explanation:

I’ve been wanting to do something creative to ask her to marry me, and what a better way then LittleBigPlanet! I know the last part of the level may not be that exciting, but I have a fiancée now!”

At least she replied in the affirmative. Even if she didn’t, LBP allows users to generate all sorts of facial expressions with Sackboy. Jed could have expressed his deep sorrow by mashing up Sackboy’s face.

To be honest, I'm jealous of Jed05's nerdom. I shall top him right now by proposing to my girlfriend of 2 years via a videogame blog post. It might be our anniversary or something, so perhaps she'll be more inclined to reply yes. Anyway -- will you marry me, Estee?

[UPDATE: Apparently we've been together longer than two years (four five years) and according to her, "I should know our anniversary." Also, I was joking.]

This reminds me of the time a guy proposed to his girlfriend on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.

I'm pretty sure when they get divorced (or break up before then), one of them is going to end up butt hurt and make an angry level involving a picture of their former loved one and a cardboard PS3 defecating on it.

@ Brad

He used the create a level mode to make a church. One of the grids in the level would trigger the message "Will you marry me?" She accepted if I remember correctly. It was so long ago.

back in may I proposed my my girlfriend when I bought her a Nintendo DS. I asked her on the touch screen, boxed it back up, and when she opened it I got down on one knee and got the ring. She said yes.

If you're gonna make a proposal level you'd better make it alot better than that. Make her work for it, taking longer to get to the question and make it more decorative. Congrats all the same. Her gasp was awesome.

That's pretty awesome, though I think it would have probably been better to have had the question pop up at the end instead of making it so early. It kind of ruins the spontaneousness of it when she has to still finish nearly three minutes of extra level.

Dude not cool don't call that guy a loser publicly for doing something like that! You're a video game blog, jeez!

But the level was pretty cool. Maybe the proposal should have been at the end but it worked the way it was. Awesome idea, Jed05!

Yeah, I don't know why he asked the question in the beginning of the level, it kind of ruined everything. Build up some suspense.

I don't know what I kind of family you or your girl has, but my girl and I would have a hard time explaining to our parents that I proposed to her through a video game. It's weird on so many levels.

This is pretty original and kinda cool

LOL @ the negative comments.

Maybe he should have proposed at a football game, drunk, after punching someone. Preferably his fiance. like a REAL man.

It's a unique proposal, and one which celebrates, comfortably, who he is. Why pretend you're something you're not?

Hmmm, I'm always looking for an original way to pop the question (I'm practically engaged as is).

If my girfriend was actually a gamer too then I'd say this would be top of the list for unexpected things to do.

And who the hell cares what your parents would think? They have nothing to do with your marriage. If you're making life decisions based on your parents opinions then you need to break out into your own life.
