If you've ever spent a day dragging yourself from arcade to arcade in Japan, you might have seen these gigantic pods that people were placing themselves in and wishing them they were a Gundam pilot.

Well, that'd be Mobile Suit Gundam: Senjou no Kizuna for ya. The overly-expensive arcade game is being moved down to a more manageable (and cheaper) size. From my experience, there shouldn't be much of a change in terms of gameplay -- the major change is just shrinking the screen size.

The game is drawing on the possibility of playing with others via ad-hoc wireless, much like Monster Hunter has done with great success. The title is all about teamwork in 4 v 4 matches, which actually turns out to be a lot of fun. Although I must admit, the Japanese players didn't like it when they found out they were playing with a foreigner. They were even more displeased to find out that I could understand what they were saying about me.

I'm seriously glad to see this coming to a mobile platform. $5 to play a single game, and you have to buy in for $10 and get a character card. So, I'll be glad to pay $30-$40 for unlimited plays with this game. Of course, this could have been the second coming of Metal Wolf Chaos...

Moonspeak?

Anyway, this reminds of that Gundam trailer they showed before the PS3 launch. You know, the one that wasn't anything like the PS3 game and actually looked kind of fun.

More like Mobile Suit Gundam: Senjou no Kizuna is going 30% faster to the psp or Mobile Suit Gundam: Senjou no Kizuna drops a colony on the psp. No glowing hands here. Can't wait for the game though. They did a great job on porting Gundam vs. Gundam, I hope this one will work too.

Looks like kind of a crap game with only the arcade "experience" to hinge on.

Yeah the arcade game is really fun, but I'm not looking forward to paying about $60 for a psp game. Yes the game will be about $60 new and that's domestic price here in Japan. I might have to buy it though since all my Japanese arcade buddies seem will be buying it when it comes out.

Hello,

I'd like to say first that this is the best game ever, probably one of my top reasons for loving Japan... (yeah, I'm exaggerating!)

About your comment "Japanese players didn't like it when they found out they were playing with a foreigner".

I don't know the circumstances in which this happened, but usually you should play in your own (or with your friends, obviously) and do not get into other people's games. Only once in all the time I've been playing this game has been different, when the 8 PODs in the arcade needed to be filled by whomever. This was more than one year ago.

As a mater of fact, is very bad manner to get into a game with people you don't know, it doesn't matter if they are foreigners or Japanese. I'm not justifying their behaviour if they in any way offended you, but I believe you where the first one to be rude in this situation. It has happened to me before that I've got in a game with someone else by mistake, or someone got in our game, and to be honest everyone has always been very polite, even when I started playing and was VERY bad at Kizuna.

I hope you have a better experience next time :)
