It all started with an eloquent email from Destructoid's director of communications, Hamza Aziz: "Shoot the SH*T out of wild animals on the 3DS."

I almost felt too guilty to highlight Outdoors Unleashed: Africa 3D when there are so many other genuinely worthwhile games to talk about, but I'm only human. From the name alone, you know this is going to be one of those absurd hunting titles that a sizable-enough amount of people seemingly always buy.

What I didn't expect, however, was the music. As you mercilessly bring about the utter destruction of entire species throughout Africa, you'll be treated to some incredibly upbeat music. Or maybe that's just the trailer. Either way, this makes my old "kill everything that moves" playthroughs of Oregon Trail look sane by comparison.

I don't hunt. I don't like hunting. I don't support or condone hunting. I also don't like running over pedestrians and getting into shootouts with the police. But I play Grand Theft Auto.

Point is, I think it'd be fucking awesome if a competent developer got behind a AAA hunting game. Until they, the closest we'll get is Red Dead and Assassin's Creed III. And these mediocre excuses for interactive entertainment.

Also: next gen Oregon Trail reboot. Make it happen.

Mitt Romney Gilded Age African Safari Massacre! I've been waiting for this game.

As a conservative hunter, I still find this game totally over the top and tasteless. But the concept is good for a laugh, especially with the music. I'm surprised you don't get to start civil wars and spill chemicals everywhere too.

They should add a gameplay element that, when you kill an endangered animal, the police and local anti-poachers should start a man-hunt for you. Get out of the country with your prey alive, or suffer the consequences.
